New PCBs...how much did they cost...BITD

I know that when the systems were first released. Neo Geo Home carts were considerably cheaper than the arcade kits.
But then towards the end of the neo geo (2002/2003). New releases of MVS kits were cheaper than home carts.

I think that SFII had to be the height...

2 players playing eachother... At .50 a pop.

Easy $1/min.

I know guys who would have to empty their Pac-Man coin buckets.....A COUPLE TIMES A DAY!

FYI...that bucket holds approximately $400 before jamming up the coin mechs. Ms. Pac-Man will hold almost double.

That sounds like an urban legend to me. Let's call a couple 2 for the sake of arguement. $800 = 3200 quarters. You're telling me those got 3200 plays a day? That is 133 an hour 24/7. I doubt that is even possible...

Wow, that is impressive. I'd love to hear the whole story on how you got started and how long you were in the business.

Yeah...I'd like to hear any storys like that from ex OP's also.

For instance, did you ever have the guy that used to be so good at a game that he would come in and play for an hour or whatever on a single credit....that would be annoying if you were an OP .

Well, ops are the best bullshitters in the world...

I bet it happened like this... They never checked thier coin buckets for a few days, then the thing cranked out. and they started checking it all the time.

you know how ops are.

But can that Ms Pac Bucket really hold 3200 quarters?

I'd think that it would be more like half that many randomly droped coints.

Yeah, it's a long story and most people that are into games would find it interesting, I think.
Someday I will sit down and write it all out and then have it linked to my server.

Well I worked for Dream Machine in '86-'87 and Aladdin's Castle from'88-'90 and I remember being in AWE at the Dream Machine location at Salisbury Beach Ma. We were open from 10am to 2am that day. We had 101 games, 4 change machines (BC-25,BC-35's) and a manned change booth. I manned the change booth for a 4 hour stint and gave out $100 in quarters every 15 min. I personally helped empty every machine at least twice that day. Skee-ball lanes had to be done more. It was Saturday on Memorial day weekend and the weather was cool and misty out so I'm sure that helped. The manager wouldn't give me the exact amount pulled in that day but did say it was between 50k and 100k. I know the stores I worked at would only do that maybe in a year. Thats why all our good games came out every summer to go the the beach stores and came back in the fall.

Most I ever paid was $550 for a 2 month old kit of Knights of Valor for the Atomiswave (with motherboard).
