Ive decided since my current pc is defunct at the moment Im going to build a new one in preperation for Rage, Battlefield 3, and Skyrim. Even though I could play these on my console I would rather see them in true form.

Currently Ive purchased
AMD Phenom 2 X6 1100t
MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770

I really want to crank the graphics but not go crazy spending money. Im playing on a projector in 720p so the resolution should help with performance over higher resolutions offered on monitors.

Whats the best bang for my buck in the 150 range?

You shouldn't have to go crazy on spending. I'd first look at the required cards for those three games, presuming Skyrim has specs out for them. Minimum would be nice but since those all are also console games, I'm going to guess the requirements aren't going to be that high. Even the new Deus Ex game has relatively low requirements. This means that any good video card you'd get for $100 nowadays would probably be plenty good enough for those. You probably want to get a 1GB minimum. Are you looking for just one video card?

As far as brands go, I've had lackluster experience with MSI video cards. I'm using an nVidia now and I don't like it. I'd rather end up going back to Radeon and my favorite OEM for them is Sapphire.

Oh another thing you should look at is what cards the games are made for.

I've used a few Sapphire cards, great for the pricepoint...just hope to god you never have to RMA one, because they don't have a clue what customer service is and an RMA is a HUGE pain with them.

Well I went with the Sapphire 6870 reviews were positive and it can run battlefield 3 maxed out. I may do crossfire once the price comes down.

I can vouch for that. I'm still running an old GTX 275 and it handles the new Deus Ex maxed out very well. I plan to upgrade in the next 6 months or so, though.

I've had good luck with XFX and ASUS. I think I'm going to stick with nVidia for a while...I had some trouble getting it to play nice with Win7, but a driver update a month or so later fixed the issue I had. We put a Sapphire Radeon 5800 in my wife's new build and it's been nothing but trouble. Seems to work fine with one display, but there's all kinds of issues running multiple displays off the one card and it's ridiculous for her to have to run two just for that when she barely games.

The nVidia vs ATI AMD debate will never end :) There are some really nice Radeon cards I really want and are recommended with my motherboard, but this GTX has run so well I have a hard time switching now.

In my experience, it's almost always driver issues so it turns into who can fix their drivers faster. Unfortunately, neither are good at that...so I plan to stick with cards that are already at minimum several months old - I don't plan to buy the latest and greatest.

Ha the NvIdia vs ATi debate is like sitting on a see-saw and saying "My side is higher!" every time you go up in the air.

They're both the only real names in the market because they both have it cornered and put out good hardware...I'm only disgusted by the cost of keeping up, video cards are HELLISHLY overpriced.

I haven't used an NvIdia card since my GF3, but only because I next bought a Radeon and got used to the software end of things with their cards. The only reason I still use them? I ditched Intel's overpriced and underwhelming offerings for AMD CPUs and chipset based boards, so pairing them with what is now an AMD GPU only makes sense.

GPU fanboys are the most hilarious fanboys on the planet.

Im coming from a core 2 duo with a 9800gt which was starting to show its age. Done ordering parts now and I managed to stay on budget by reusing my case and hdd and selling the innards on ebay to offset the cost. I would have liked to buy an I7 but the price was to much.

Specs:
Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB ddr3
Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W PSU
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T 3.3ghz 6 core
MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

Nice hows the performance on that beast? No wonder you can play Deus ex maxed ;-p.

Pretty damn good. The video card is probably the most out of date part in there, but it still runs every thing pretty well from what I've seen. RAM was super cheap when I bought all of that so I figured what the hell, max the bitch out! :D

I haven't tried overclocking anything yet, but maybe someday when I have some time to spare.

I would not use a projector or any type of lcd if I was serious about a FPS on an online game.

Get a big fatty 24" (The 90lb Sony's come to mind. I used one back in the day) crt and crank the res.

You'll be much happier and die less.

What a goddamn nightmare to get this PC working. Just kept getting bsods while trying to install windows. Finally got it but it wasn't until 1am.
