New paper arcade models

Well... I was thinking about grabbing a domain name and setting this up... but there are a lot more people out there doing this that I was aware of.

http://paperarcade.blogspot.com/ is one such site.... it was a blog, doesn't look like it is has been updated in a while, but check out the 3rd post on the page there... "Star Wars, Star Trek and DeLorean models" Amazing paper models!!

Anyways...if you google search "paper arcade" and go into the images section of google, there is a lot of stuff you can find there...

I've finished Mappy, but don't have access to my printer right now. I want to print and assemble it before posting, in order to make sure that it's going to work out. Once that's done, I'll post it.

Q*bert is next; I've got the dimensions and the artwork. Gonna make measurements and a template tonight.

Mappy is up.

Oops! I didn't notice until just now that the monitor on Mappy was hidden behind the background layer. I've fixed it.

So. I decided to "convert" Mappy to a Jr. Pac-Man, because they share the same cab. I put it together and it looks pretty nice, except for one glaring issue: the side art. Being a neophyte at this sort of thing, I have only now discovered just how hard it is to find decent side art for Jr. Pac-Man... so, using the low-res, tiny jpegs I could find, I "drew" side art over them, and put it on the model. The result is... kinda meh. It's an inoffensive approximation of the Jr. Pac side art, but it definitely looks like it was drawn by hand, and by someone not particularly good at it.

If anyone wants me to post the model, I will, but don't say I didn't warn you. I will definitely revisit this project if and when decent side art is made available.

I imagine if you could just get an owner to take a decent straight on pic of the side art, you'd have a perfectly acceptable result (assuming they have decent side art).

I was just getting ready to post the exact same thing. These should all be from photos, not 'found artwork' IMHO. Ultimately, all taken by the same photographer, in the same location, etc. But that ain't gonna happen, sigh.

Q*bert is finished! I hope you all enjoy this one.

Next up: Joust!

Good morning! Joust is done and ready for download. Either this is getting much easier or Joust is just an easy cabinet to make, because this one took a lot less time to make than the others.

For the next one, I'm putting together a model that, quite frankly, surprises me inasmuch as it hasn't been done before. You'll see what I mean.

Thank you all once more for the great feedback and support. I plan to continue with this project well into the foreseeable future.

WOW - this will make changing the layout of my arcade alot easier than moving machines first. LOL

AWESOME WORK!!!!

New to paper arcade: Pong. I can't believe no-one made a Pong model during the original WOTR run.

I've also posted a hi-res version of Cowboy Geoff's Millipede cabinet. Enjoy!

Next: Space Invaders
