Hi.

So I loved the paper arcade models that Way of the Rodent did a few years ago, and have been looking around for new ones ever since. New models, though, have been few and far between. So I decided to put what meager skills I have to use and make my own.

Below is my first finished paper arcade model, Baby Pac-Man. For best results, print on 11x17 card stock. Then fold and glue. Voila! If you have suggestions on how to improve the model, I'll be glad to listen.

If anyone's interested, I'm working on some more paper arcade models, and I will even take requests. If you do have a request, make sure you give me the dimensions of the original machine, as well as the artwork or links to where I can obtain artwork.

Thank you, and please enjoy!

Thank you for making this thread! I, too, have been building some of the ones I could not find.

It would be nice to make a sticky of this thread, and add the already existing ones you could find to this thread (to avoid people submitting already finished work). Or maybe just the links to them.

Kyle Snyder (sp?) did a mini version of Time-Out arcade; I would love to get those models from him.

I have completed the following: Sinistar, Tapper, Zookeeper.

There's also a Paper arcade Williams pinball game that someone did out there that I put together (Junkyard), and am using the same model to build a Funhouse pinball.

Sweet! Zoo Keeper and Sinistar are two that I had planned to do. Can you post those models?

FYI, I am currently working on Phoenix and Mappy (deluxe marquee).

Oh, and I already see that I made a mistake on the Baby Pac-Man model and forgot to add coin doors.

Do you have a larger file size for this? All I get is just a little larger than the thumbnail and it's fuzzy. Awesome model. We need this thread to have all the different cabs attached to it. I haven't found any since D2K.

My original models were based upon WayOfTheRodent's models. I've been using a standard of 15 pix x 15 pix = 1 square inch of the model...so a 70" tall game would be 1,050 pixes high. At 300dpi, that makes the assembled model for a 70" tall game 3.5 inches tall, which is 1/20th scale.

I try to fit all mine on 8.5 x 11 paper, since most people have that readily available for printing.

I print mine on photo paper. Bending is more difficult, but they feel more like plastic models than paper models when they are done, and should hold up better over time.

I've updated Baby Pac-Man with coin doors and flipper buttons. Also, I've attached the full-size versions. If they won't go through because of forum restrictions, I'll post a link to my Flickr site, where I've posted the two parts of the cab.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am definitely encouraged to continue with this project.

One more quick missive: the diagonal lines across the folding tabs attached to the pinball field? Those are errors. Don't cut them, just ignore them. If it's too distracting, I'll go back into the design and fix it.

I stumbled upon another Flickr account belonging to "Cowboy Geoff." He has designed several models, including Dig Dug, Centipede, Rally-X, Contra, and others. However, the art is low-res, and the print quality is low. So I am working on trying to improve the art quality. I will be posting finished remodels - and links to the originals, for all fairness - over the next few days.

I think these are great, but my wife would make fun of me if I actually made any. I'll have to disguise it as an activity for the kids. We'll make some arcade games for their Barbie dolls.

How about doing a Sega R360? ;)

Cool! Now I can stop worrying if there will be more of those Hallmark Christmas ornaments released each year. I can make my own!
