A statement can be made, and down the line the exact words, in order, not remembered exactly.Bbut the idea of what was said is still remembered. Especially when one repeats one self over the course of multiple interviews.
Something considered a slight alteration, but still false, can be added to it. So it is totally plausible that someone can say with conviction that said slight alteration is false when they are the ones supposedly being quoted. (Any comprehension yet?).
