I remember playing this a lot back in the day, but it's not one I'd get myself. However, it is my oldest son's fav and I promised him I'd get one if it came up cheap locally.

This one came up on CL about 30 miles from home and I got it for $100. The cab is in great shape, but all of the metal parts are rusted or corroded, except the main boards. Not sure how they didn't get into the same condition, they have the same S/N as the cabinet.

The boards are not it bad shape. The battery was removed before it had a chance to ruin the boards (there is a little acid damage, but it's directly below the battery).

We'll get started on this one in a couple of weeks, as soon as I get through with the pinball I'm working on at the moment.

Congrats. Pole Position is still on my list of games to get, some day...

Pole Position is a great game and parts are plentiful. The hardest part is getting a working boardset, so if that works don't mess with it. :)

if you search theres tons of posts..

first off make sure the boards are getting a nice 5.1 to 5l.2 volts..

if its low check the edgs connector, prolly burnt...

on my last one i just jumnpered the +5 AND GROUND wires to spade terminals and plugged them into the boardset test points... worked like a champ

also look over the ar2 boards.. most like will have some cracked solder connections and burnt resistors that youll want to fix

It's already been modified so the wiring harness has new connectors that plug straight into the board. I'm also looking at doing the sense mod on the ARII boards when I rebuild them and set up the main board with power to the test plugs.
