New Non-Lister... Ice Cold Beer

FWIW, I got the left side fixed more... turned out I forgot to grease the left rod. lol No wonder the thing was having so much trouble. I still need to grease the gear box on that side, but she runs A LOT better.

Not used to that many moving parts on my games, so I'm still working on remembering to take notes on what needs grease and all that stuff.

Jay probably does have about a dozen of them! hahaha

I wanna play this thing one of these days.

When I get to a new house, or get this area cleaned up... and get most of my machines working, you're more than welcome to come by. It's really cramped here, really boring, and really messy. When I move to a new place, I'll probably be throwing a party... and while I don't drink, pretty much all of my friends do, so they'll bring beer and stuff and it'll hopefully be enjoyable.

I do want to get at least 90% of my machines up and running before I try hosting anything though... and that'll probably take a while. ... Would probably want a juke too (because I have great tastes in music, but I'll probably want to put some crappy new songs on there for everyone else), so that'll be my main focus at the next auction is getting a good CD jukebox.

Figured I'd just keep with this thread instead of starting a new one.

After running for a couple of weeks it lost one of the segments in the score display. For example, instead of showing "9"s, it showed "3"s.

Replaced U18 on the board (ULN2003A) and she works perfectly again.

Took me forever to get around to fixing it because the game will worked fine with that little problem.

Anywho, that's it for now.

Great game, and something different for the gameroom too.

A few years ago at the St. Louis SuperAuction, there was at least 6 or 8 of these, and they were selling cheap; like $20 to $50 bucks. There was one Zeke's Peak there and I bought it for $80

Since then I've gotten a couple more and sold them, a couple of tips that work for me:

1. Run the rods and nylon spacers dry after cleaning them. I usually use Turtle Wax Chrome Polish on the metal upright rods to clean all the crud off them. Take them out of the holders to do the job right.

2. Replace the belts with the small diameter "spray arm" tubing, not the thicker vacuum or washer tubing and use a 1" threaded section of a 4/40 screw (cut off the head) to join the ends together. Put this joint under the belt clamp so it never rides over the pulleys.

Setting it up with the thinner tubing and clean rods greatly improves the gameplay.

Yeah, I've cleaned all the bars and regreased everything. The lines in my machine are actually "weed eater" line that they spliced together... works like a charm.

I do need to adjust the right bar away from the playfield a little because when the ball in ejected from it's little hole, 90% of the time it taps the glass... I hate that because it'll tap it, then ride (on the glass) down the bar until the bar raises and the ball falls back into the groove. It's not done any more damage (in my care) yet, but it will happen eventually if I don't get the right side pulled away from the field a little. It's not going to take much, a thin nylon gasket should put it far enough away to force the ball to ride on the playfield side of the bar at all times, while keeping it close enough to avoid scraping the glass.

It's been a really fun machine to work on, that's for sure.

Check that your playfield is seated in the frame squarely. I had issues with the ball going over the rail and against the glass on one machine, and it turned out to be the playfield wasn't where it should be at the top.

How well does weed eater line work traction-wise? I thought the rubber tubing was important for it's traction on the drive wheel.

Considering the thing is on there tighter than a dolphins butthole (water tight)... it does really good. It's a HUGE PITA to get off and on when I needed to, but it works REALLY well, no slippage at all.
