I've seen new neo geo carts coming out with more and more games, the latest is 161-in-1 cart.

Anybody knows when they'll release the next, probably bigger one? Because I can wait for the next one to have more games...

Apparently the carts have had more than enough space to hold every neo geo game, ever. Even the early ones available like 2 years ago. They just keep adding a few roms here and there collecting more $$$.

I'm very hesitant to pick up a new one. I have a 100 in 1, and numerous games have sound problems. From complete lack of music to random sound effects playing.

My 161 in 1 will random reset on some titles if I jump right into them after selecting them from the menu. However if I let attract mode run for a while before playing then it won't do it.

Shame it is missing so many obvious common titles while simultaneously featuring 60ish King of Fighter versions. It doesn't even have Cyber Lip and I am pretty sure that was a launch title for the Neo Geo.

Anybody smells the comming of a new multi cart?

Not sure how the cart works exactly, the roms may be modified on a case by case basis to insert the snippet of code that allows you to reset the game by holding start. Pure speculation on my part, really, though this could explain some of the sound being a bit screwy. For me, this is particularly noticeable on samurai showdown 2 where the intro music after the neogeo logo is way off.

Also if you leave it on the game select menu too long, terry's white shirt starts to do some serious burnin on my monitor - a grey blob stays on the screen where his shirt was before once the game has started.

Other than that, it has a really good selection of games, would definitely buy the next version if it comes with windjammers, which is sorely missed.

Edit: This is the 161 in 1 cart I'm referencing, I haven't used the others though I'm lead to believe they're very similar.

I think this is something that could be accomplished with a SD card type PCB like the arcadeSD. Clay designed the Hanaho board that ran MVS roms, so I'm sure he could get something going on this if he had time. It is possible to do a cart or PCB with all roms faithfully, I imagine.

So can the 161 keep its chosen difficulty level after reboot?
