Someone told me that they went to a local distributor, and was told that NAMCO will soon be coming out with a new Multigame, Ms Pacman, Pacman, Galaga and about 12 other games. anyone have any more information about this game? Google was no help at all.

This would be news to me. I would think that the game would have been shown at the industry shows and even the distributor shows.

Might be worth looking at if its true. The MsPac/Galaga combo has been a great machine for us on our route.

Why does the artwork have to be so terrible on the new namco games? The galaga ms pac artwork looks like a middleschooler made it in photoshop and printed it on the cheapest of material.

Not a bad list of games. Odd how the marquee is sunk back into the cabinet so you can see the screen. Would not mind having the cabaret once they are cheaper.

That picture is obviously a digital mockup. I wonder if they plan on releasing this to the coin op world or home only?

The cost of the machine will be the ultimate issue.

Unfortunately, I don't think that adding a small handful of games is really going to make the game that much more attractive to people that want one for a home game room or for anyone considering putting it on location.

The only way they are going to make these things viable is to bring down the price significantly. I will bet that they are listing it for $3K.

Also, I would be seriously surprised if it had a CRT monitor in it. It will most likely be an LCD, so a lot of "purists" wont like it.

Press release said there was going to be a commercial version. That probably means its going to cost $3500+. That might actually be a good thing, because just judging by the mock-up I expected it to be one of those cheesy department store things. It must not be.

If you read the link they said the price would be the same as the 25th anniversary. I think the pixelated art is both retro and might be telling that they are going to use an LCD since you would see the pixels more clearly.

No, but it looks like the horizontal games will be modified for a vertical screen...

That isn't as bad if they stick e 25" monitor in there and actually have them letterbox like the Dk, Dk Jr., and Mario Bros Combo. The Jaxx ones got modified moving scores, etc to change the aspect ratio. I really do expect these to be the right aspect ratio.

B.F.D... for the collector this means jack squat. I suppose for the operator it could be good news though. It'll take 10 years for the PCB's in these units to be cost effective enough for a collector to buy one... but in the mean time there are much better (and cheaper) alternatives.

I agree it will not be a big deal for us collectors, and would be cool to drop a few quaters in at a hotel or movie theater.

That's how the home-only cabaret (? not sure if there was a commercial version of the cabaret) models of the Ms Pac/Galaga combos look too (probably uses the same cabinet design)

Offtopic slightly - I am continually amazed at how crappy the Namco artwork looks on their various modern "Pac" units. Really? This is the best they can do?

If anyone on here was wanting something like is, it seems to me like it would be a much more ideal situation to take an old Galaga or Ms Pac cabinet, have similar (or better) custom artwork printed, and just load the Namco specific titles that they want to play into a used arcadeshop board. It would cost a LOT less, have a nicer menu interface, and potentially be more pleasing to the eyes. You also wouldn't have to put up with scrolling through unwanted titles. Aside from all that -WHY on earth is Galaga '88 missing from all of these games? That is one of my favorite Namco shooters, and the rarity of the original board set makes it hard to come by...

Did you not notice Galaga '88 was on the machine?

Galaga 88' is a good one. I think Pac Man's arcade party is a bit late to the party. Sure it's totally legal but let's be realistic. It will probably have that shitty cpo material like on the Class of 81's.
