There is a new app in the App Store for Midway games. It is a little buggy but still a great deal for $.99.

You get 10 games with the initial purchase. I went ahead and purchased the in-app upgrade to get Total Carnage. It works pretty well as a touch game. The format is set up very similar to the Williams Pinball Hall of Fame console games. Hopefully they will add iCade support down the road.

Keeps crashing the first couple of times I launch it. I hate the joystick though.

I just bought it on my daughter's ipod touch and the joystick doesn't seem to work very well in Tapper...

bought it also. Just like all of the classic arcade games on the iPhone/ipad, it's too hard to control to be enjoyable. Yet I still keep buying the in hope that I'll be able to play one of them with some type of skillful control.

Well, it's $.10 a game so not much lost.

Why is it so hard to get an on-screen joystick to work? Really? You can craft a nice game but can't get a freaking joystick to work right?

Works great on my iPhone, wish i coudl get it on my android tab, But all it really does is make me want to go out and buy a Joust, Defender and Gauntlet cab! (i do have a line on a $700 gauntlet fairly locally, just have to convince the wife to let me buy it!)

It's hard because there is no tactile feedback. The parts of the screen that do nothing feel the same as the part of the screen that do. Even if the control itself worked perfectly, it would never be as good as a tactile control; because you can't feel the control, you have to look at it, and because you're looking at the control, you're not looking at the game.

I've played a bunch of games that use joy type control on iOS. They are universally awful. Not just the classic games, but all of them.

I can recommend The Incident, Edge, and Edge Extended if you want a retro-style game with controls that aren't infuriating.

My son bought it on his ipod touch and loves. You get tickets for playing games and they are used to unlock things. There are also 6 games you can unlock with the tickets.

I'd be satisfied with it registering the touch. :(

I love it... I relish the chance to support the developers and send the message that there's a market for legitimizing emulators. Pissed I missed the boat for the "official" iMAME release (but have the jailbreak version). And to think you can get emulated versions of all these games for $3 is the best news I've heard for iOS in awhile.

That said, I agree that touchscreen controls for games that NEED tactile buttons almost always suck. This set and many others in the app store suffer and need bluetooth/iCade support across the board. I can't understand why it so rarely happens.
