Hi, I found this group looking for help in restoring a vintage game we have in our attic. It's an early 80's vintage Honly Puckman cocktail that my father in law got in a trade. It's been in the attic since 1984 and was operable until a couple years ago. It still powers up but the game doesn't load properly.

A quick search for this game revealed that it's pretty rare as an early version of Pacman, and that many folks are replicating it with new cabinets. I'll be glad to share any pictures people want of ours, to include the circuit board and interior. I'd be surprised if ours wasn't 100% original based on how it was obtained and stored for the past 30+ years.

We live just south of San Francisco in San Mateo. Thanks in advance for any help/contacts close to us.

Welcome! You've come to the right place if you're looking to get that bugger working again. I've no doubt someone here will be able to help you. Do you have any technical skills?

Lots of KLOV collectors in Cali. I'm sure someone can help you out.
If you can post pics of the interior (most importantly the PCB), that would be sweet ...

Check the voltages ... easy to do if you own a voltmeter.

Made by : Honly Japan
Year : 1982
Notes : This cocktail is exactly the same as the Namco original but for two details. All the text is in english and both instruction card and control panel artwork state Handly on them

EDIT: Shou's Puckman PCB can be seen in this thread -> https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=360824

My tech skills are limited. I'm good for rewiring a house, or a classic car, but an arcade circuit board would worry me! I'm thinking the Bay Area should have no shortage of savvy folks.

I went to California Extreme in San Jose a couple years back with a buddy and really enjoyed it. Very cool to see the old games again.

Welcome. That's a good looking machine. You're going to have fun learning as you fix that game.

The 1982 manufacture date is interesting. My father in law recalls getting the game earlier than that, in 1981. He's virtually certain he had it in his possession by 1982.

Cool, thanks for clarifying that. I should remember...I was one of the kids feeding quarters into those things in 1980-82....

Welcome, do you have a picture of the pcb board? If it's a straight clone of the board it should be easy to hook up and fix. Pacmans has a lot of info out there the big question is the pinout the same as a normal pacman?

Welcome to the addiction, you'll have plenty more by the end of 2018! :D

And that's a really sweet puck-man to have.

Thanks to VAPS member Jkoolpe the Puckman is up and running like a champ. Thanks man!
