Hello All,

I sure hope this post goes in the correct forum, but if not, please re-direct it.

I've been reading this site for a while now and decided to join, so I'd like to say
hi to all pinball (and other arcade games) fans.

Like so many, I've enjoyed pinball since I was a kid (long time ago, don't ask :))

Not long after I retired from the govt. in January of '07, I got interested in the visual pinball pc games.

One thing led to another and now I find myself with 3 pins, WCS94 (I'm the third owner), a gorgeous ToTAN,
and a TAFG, #494 which I found in Pa.

I now work a few hours a week at Adventure Park, USA in New Market, Md. fixing
and maintaining their arcade games. It's only minutes from home and I enjoy getting
new experiences with this line of work.

Anyway, thanks for reading and again "Hi", from myself and my wife, too.
She enjoys pinball almost as much as I do.

If you'd like to see a recent picture of our pins, my (very) modest website is:
http://home.comcast.net/~freestatepin

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Gordon (marylandpin)

I've been to Adventure Park USA a couple of times but I lost a lot of interest after they got rid of paintball. Still like the laser tag I guess but not enough to just drive that for for it.

Welcome to the forums.

RE:

Hi and Thanks,

I wish their arcade had some pins, but the age group they cater to wouldn't appreciate them and would just ruin them in no time.

The paintball was popular, but a mess...literally. The buildings and anything within reach was a target. I understand why they gave it up.

The place is mostly for kids but it's a good 2-6 hr./wk job for me......

Hey, I'm 16 and enjoy pinballs! I know I'm a minority of my age, a very, very small minority. Don't get me wrong the place is a cool place but just doesn't attract me as much as it used to.

Anyways, I see you own 3 pinballs, but have you considered any arcade games or are you strictly pinball?

Hi,
Gee.....<only> 16!! I remember being that age eons ago...:)

The owners of AP had pins at their previous location in Frederick, but there
is more maintenance involved keeping them up and running than videos.

Plus, they are too fragile to be climbed on and generally beaten up so I
can understand why they don't have pins anymore.

You'd be amazed at the things I repair that are from abuse and not
normal wear-and-tear.

I am more of a pinball fan at heart. Video games are nice, but I like getting
inside these things and doing "hands-on" work.

I hope to get to the new pinball museum that just opened in Georgetown.
Maybe you can get there sometime, too.

Take care!

Welcome Gordon!!! I used to frequent AP a good bit back when they first opened as I was addicted to the Bust a groove machine and a participant in the tournaments. I met Mr stottlemeyer back in 1993 when he had Putt-putt in frederick. He had a very nice collection of classics back then, nothing like what he has now. I remember skipping class a few times back then to go play Mortal kombat at his place. I went to TJ high up the street. He's always been a really nice guy. I contacted him a month ago asking where all his old games went and of course they're long gone. I always hoped that he would get some classics or pins at AP seeing as how there are allot of adults bringing kids in. The kids have plenty of games that cater to them but the adults are just left standing around watching, waiting for the kids boredom to set in so they can go home.

Hi.
Thanks for the input!
When I first starting working at AP about 2.5 yrs. ago, I asked about pins.

The ones they had at their location in Frederick took quite a pounding, with
some being slammed against walls.
So, there is too much maintenance and (it seems) kids now-a-days don't appreciate
them. They actually had one machine (don't know the type) turned over on
its side. I guess if you don't win, then the idea is to destroy it. Hmmmm...

I miss the "adult" arcades of the past with rows and rows of pins. Ah, the
good old days....:)
