Hello guys the arcade but hit me (and my wallet :p) recently, my girlfriend and i just bought our first house and as a kid i always told myself i was going to buy an arcade machine. well i started building my first machine in july and it was finished/working in about sept. the reason i built the arcade is because i didn't want to bastardize (mame) a real arcade machine. i have a mame machine and my 360 in my arcade to play all the new fighters and classics aswell. i went with a 1080p 26 inch lcd instead of a crt (which the more i play mame games on it the more i regret not getting an arcade monitor).

anyway ill shut up for now. here are the pics of the build

Anyway i still need to hack some computer speakers, i was hoping to get some speakers with a subwoofer and adding some real speakers instead of using the computer satellites.
what do you guys think?

Welcome aboard! Good choices on the artwork, although you've got a hell of a lot of control panel space there for a two player layout. :]

If you haven't, be sure to check out BYOAC, they have a dedicated board just for MAME projects.

Well a lot of us here aren't so into MAME. So that explains a little of the negative reaction I think I saw in the post. I do applaud you for building from scratch rather than killing a classic. I do have one suggestion though. If you plan on using that monitor on that cab it would be a good idea to cut a hole in the wood piece and mount the monitor behind the wood rather than in front of it. Of course make sure the hole is nicely cut and covers the logos on the monitor so you can't easily tell it's a computer style monitor. I would also add a piece of smoked plexi over the wood piece. This will give your project a more authentic arcade look.

nice job thanks for not destroying an old classic. gotta love the cup holders
I wouldn't dare kill a classic. i know better than that, as for the cup holders. they look kinda goofy but man its nice when you got a tall one! haha beats accidentally kicking beer all over the floor. my girl would kill me haha

I wanted a ton of real estate for the control panel its nice to be able to lean all over it and be able to rest your arms on it. its actually very comfortable and i actually took it into consideration before building it. i didnt want a track ball or any other junk on it. just simple 2 player set up.

as far as the monitor goes i didnt anticipate its sticking out as far as it did but im already recessing it and i might just do glass instead of plexy! thanks for the advise guys!

a few more pics...

Me right after i painted the cab... (i was a little existed.)

yup.. art looks good... I like it. You got it printed w/ your logo/name on it ?

welcome to the club... now go out and get an arcade game ! :)

and put hinges on that CP... its big enough you can throw ice in there and open to get your beer...

this is only your first... you can't have just one...

i bought it from the original owner (he got it in 95). its never been in a public arcade or beat up, its in really good shape aside some cosmetic issues where the bottom of the kick panel is. other than that its perfect!

as for the hinges, i couldnt find any decent hinges (not like the ones on the KI machine) so i just left the control panel removable by a few screws, its on there REAL good haha

although the beer under the panel inst a terrible idea either haha

oh and yeah i just got the DJMOJO and put it in the capcom font (a little tip of my hat to capcom) i think it looks really good.

this is the walk around of my KI machine!
