As many of you know I've had a 1977 Rockola 470 Juke box in my arcade since roughly 2004. The juke holds 80 records for a total of 160 selections.
Over the years, I've changed records out periodically, always striving for the perfect 80's mix. Well my Mother and Father in law used to own a bar when my wife was very young. Recently they have been going through their old stuff and getting rid of things. I'm currently in line for a few of their old neon and other beer/ advertising signs (they run a tight democracy/ hierarchy within the immediate family so I have to compete for items with other family members who may show interest in said items within the next few months). While waiting, they decided to give me something no one else in the family could really use, a box of 45's. Most of these are in A- condition with few if any scratches. About a 1/4 of them come with the original graphic picture sleeves. After going through the box 2-3 times and refining my selections, I was able to add 12 new ones to the mix. They are as follows (A-sides only):
The FIXX - One Thing Leads to Another
Loverboy - Everybody's Working for the Weekend
Loverboy - The Kid is Hot Tonight
Loverboy - Turn Me Loose
Loverboy - Hot Girls in Love
Journey - Don't Stop Believing
Styx - Mr. Roboto
Thomas Dolby - She Blinded me with Science
Asia - Heat of the Moment
Joe Jackson - Steppin Out
Eddie Money - I Think I'm in Love
The GoGos - We Got the Beat
I still have about 100-150 extra 45s here from this batch, plus another 100-150 in storage, with about 50 of them set aside as possible future replacement tunes. Artists such as The Police, Rick Springfield, Foreigner, Duran Duran, Thompson Twins, Culture Club, etc. Not too bad. I should have back-ups for years.
Now I think we tried to start a 45 exchange a few years back but it didn't gain a lot of traction as there weren't a lot of 45 juke guys out there. I think that number should have increased by now, so if you own a 45 juke and you wanna do some trading, hit me up in this thread. Thanks!
