I think the software's still early, but here are some nice vids that someone put on youtube:

Some gameplay w/ music & sound:

High Score/Game Over music & Match Sequence:

It looks good. I'll get a chance to play it in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking forward to it. The sounds and the light show look impressive, especially the sound those spinners make. I'm a sucker for a spinner with a good sound effect.

Oooh, I want to play it!

Not sure if I'll ever get to, though. (We pretty much have NO places around here that would buy this pin and put it on location.)

Im thinking its looking pretty good right now. Really looking forward to playing this!

Nice!

And since Stern is the only one making pins now, any new pin is great to help the hobby.

Although I hated Wheel of Fortune and Shrek, not for game play but for theme, but that's just me though.

I also heard Stern makes more from licensed themed games then not, even though they have to fee for the usage.

The ramps are identical, yes, but the way everything else interacts is pretty different based on impressions of those that played it. This game plays a whole heck of a lot faster than Austin Powers and seems to be more random.

Similar designs do not make for a game that is "essentially" the same as another. Is Medieval Madness essentially Attack From Mars? Is Spider-Man essentially Attack From Mars? Not really...

Gents it's someone elses opinions. Agree or disagree you still need to respect their opinions. Let's not turn this into an RGP "swinging meat" contest.

i haven't played IM, I also concur it's very AP'ish. But let's be realistic for once. There's only so many notes in music right? right. Every note has been played before right? right. But what makes it unique is how you arrange it. Pinball is no different.

I personally feel Stern is catering to the OPS needs. Too many toys is sure to increase failures which assures more downtime. Stern has simplified their machines for longevity purposes. I hate this personally but I understand the business aspect of it as well.

I feel like Iron Man is maybe a little too op friendly. It looks fun, and people are saying it's enjoyable, but it seems to be suffering from some brutally short ball times paired with very easy to achieve multiball. That's a little concerning, but it might just mean that it's a fun one to play when you get the chance, but not necessarily one you'd want in the home. I can think of lots of games like that, actually.

Those games have enough in the way of unique toys and excellent rules to make up for any similarities. Iron Man is Austin powers w/ LESS toys + 2 magnets...and based on what the reports are saying, it's not going to have the rules to make up for the playfield simplicity. It is what it is. It'll probably be better than AP....but to ignore the cost cutting and Borg-ness of the whole thing would be....ignorant. ;)

Well, I had my doubts when Borg was designing it in the first place, because he's a classic recycle artist, but I never planned on buying one anyway. I just want to get out and play it. Really, the only Borg game I liked enough to buy was Jurassic Park. But still, the game seems a lot faster than Austin Powers, so layout similarities aside, I think it'll feel much different.

Ok, well, I'd buy a Guns N' Roses if I found a good deal on that.

Yeah, look - I'm not bashing the game for being a recycle...but it is what it is and it killed my interests in the game as a NIB home purchase. I am definitely looking forward to playing it on location...and I guess that's what Stern wants anyway. So - if a location nearby gets it, I'll go play it!

Guys, I have played this for the first time last weekend at the Chicagoland show...I can tell you it plays NOTHING like AP albeit there might be similarites in layout.

If you're a fan of just straight-forward pinball-2 flippers, 2 ramps, and ONE toy, this is for you. Did I mention magnets! This game is loaded. Especially by the Iron Monger toy. Another cool thing was the sound/sound effects-Really cool!

Like Greg said the software is early....Someone said it best that it's like a Sega pin. Meaning all there is right now are the different multiball forms of Jackpot.

Ignorant statement.

I've played and owned enough pins to know and see how it is cost effective. Not saying it's a bad thing business wise to do that, but it's far from ignorant, it's essentially Austin Powers with a new theme.

Schusler: Sega pin = where do you think all the parts came from? They are still running the same software on a lot of these on operator menus...Stern/Data East/Sega = all the same to me on games..the only ones that feel like Williams truly are Williams. Not saying it's a bad thing, but if you think it's worth $5000 to spend on a new pin based on theme, then play Austin Powers again and tell me otherwise.

To be fair - Stern's SAM system hardware is leaps above the old Sega Whitestar, which Austin Powers used. The SAM games all "feel" way closer to Williams games...especially Spidey and Family Guy. Snappy and powerful. In that respect, I expect Iron Man to "feel" waaaay better than AP. From the vids it's obvious that it sounds better.

LOL...even though I said the similarities killed my interest in buying one...I must admit, I'm feeling a bit impulsive lately and if the software starts to show some major gameplay improvements, I might pull the trigger....hehe.
