Wish me luck. We put an offer on this home almost a month ago. Just waiting to hear back from the bank. Its fortunetly/unfortunetly a short sale so it can take months to hear from the bank. The owners okd the offer. The upside is that its a 500k home im getting at 275k. It has 5200 square feet with 2500 of it being in the basement. The basement has french doors which will allow me to get all my games down there without an issue. Plus its 5 miles from where I work so its perfect.

Wow, we need to move to Utah. A house like that is $1M+ here. For 275K, you can't even buy a decent condo here. How far are you from Bryce and Zion national parks? That's always a plus.

We're actually looking to move to a new place for just under 400K, but we'll probably end up in a small town home or older house (built in 80s-90s).

Good luck on your offer! It looks like a beautiful home.

God you people really need to tell me what you do for a living.

LOL. in my defense, it was her car she had before she met me. It just never broke down so we kept it around.

Haha, I drive a 2002 Mazda Protege in bright blue. You can probably guess it was my wife's old car. She drives our nicer Subaru Forester. I don't know how I got that end of the deal, but I'm okay with it. My commute is only like 10 mins. :)

Funny how the subject of cars Vs. House was brought up on here. If you drive through the neighborhoods around here where houses are priced between 400-800K, you will notice that the cars in the driveway are most commonly stuff like 1990 Honda Accords and such.

I COULD live in a bigger/nicer house, but I choose to live well within my means and not have a ridiculous house payment. That being said, my primary residence has over 4,200 sq. Ft, 1,350 of it is the basement game room plus an additional dedicated movie theater, a detached heated/cooled workshop (for 4 car capacity) with 5 bedrooms upstairs. I would rather stay in this house and be able to remain comfortable during uncertain economic times than to have to worry whether or not I can pay the bills every month. I also have nice cars, which I probably wouldn't have if I lived in a more "exclusive" part of the city with the correspondingly high mortgage payment...

flat out awesome house. i know it's totally a buyer's market, and being an owner already with that kinda sucks. out here, values have all dropped at least 50-60k since '08. our goal for the next house is at least 2500 square feet with a basement and garage, and 1/4 acre lot. unfortunately the only way we're gonna get that at the present moment is to throw down a big down payment and rent out the present place, which realistically would cover our present mortgage plus a good chunk of the new house's, however it's not really a path we'd like to go down.
