Hello everyone, My name is John and I'm starting to get into the whole arcade scene. I purchased my first cab about 2 months ago. Its a "Angled Back Cab" converted into a Neo Geo cab. Bought it for a good price, Its been fun so far. I restored my control panel and did a bit of maintenance to the cab itself. I am eager to learn more!

Well hello and glad to be here!
John

Here are some pics of my cab and control panel restoration.

Welcome! I believe that is actually a dedicated Neo Geo not a conversion. It won't be long before you have 2 or 3 "friends" for the Neo though...lol

Welcome. Great game for a first. you can pull alot of variety from just one single Neo cab.

Yea, I am already thinking of getting another cab... :). Upgraded the 2 slot to a 4 slot, its so sweet. Dont have much room in my house so maybe thinking of getting a candy cab.

Wish I had a garage, I would so make that into an arcade <3

Wellcome too the group! What is that switch for on the side of the cp?

Thanks for the welcome..... Its a pause switch thats connect to my Neo MOBO, I soldered it from dip switch 8.

Comes in handy when ya need to take a leak....lol

Actually it's what is commonly called around here lately as a Z-clone. No Neo Geos shipped in these but got kits. They were not built by a big cab builder like Dynamo or 3KOAM. I have looked a few of them and have never seen cab markings. I have seen some posted in auctions back east and mid west but saw a bunch on the west coast. I thought that they may be a west coast builder.

It's sorta a narrow body 25" cab. Control panel comes right out with power supply everything like a Dynamo corner cut Z-cab.
I have 2 of them and they are sort of designed to be modular. Whats cool is the top CP slides out as one sheet of wood and clamped down.
It's easy to modify and restore, unlike the metal CP of the Corner cut Z-cab.

Welcome to KLOV

hardmvs.com is a good resource for MVS cabs also. Nice cleanup!

It's actually an "Angled Cab" made by the "Angled Manufacturing Company" or something along those lines, well this is what the manual for the cab says anyway. ;)

Welcome aboard Jon! :D

Learn something everyday.

Scan of the manual please, as Id love to see it.

I would also suggest a recessed button to make that pause switch "stealth" or a full toggle on top of the cab where it's easily hidden.

You also probably should have top mounted the Sanwa JLF sticks since when mounting on wood panel they feel way too short. You can also extend the handle by using bat tops and make it look more "western" matching the upright wood body. I get why you went w/ Sanwa controls but they also don't always look right unless it's a Candy cab.

ADDED SHOTS:

Yeah the deck completely pulls out with PS and JAMMA harness. Only the ISO tranny and some electrical is on the rest of the cab.
I have 2 whole cabs w/ one spare deck and 3 spare CP inserts.

It's funny, the manual doesn't show a lot of diagrams of the cab or go into too much detail. I personally think that these cabs actually predate the Z-Backs. I actually prefer these to the z-backs because they're solid wood and the whole control panel thing is really cool. I have some pics here somewhere of the slide out panel. I'll try to scan the manual when I get a chance.

One thing I wanted to mention is that the year on the manual is 1991 so this would predate SF2 CE...

Welcome to the madness!! soon your tiny apt will be overloaded with as many cabs as you can cram in there and you will be sleeping on a blanket on the floor. jk (maybe not)

They may predate the Z- cab but the modular and pull out stuff is copied from Dynamo HS-2 w/ their modular CP designs.

Being Plywood is a HUGE plus however.

Too bad that they are so narrow that typical marquee designs look crammed in therer when cut to fit.

The joysticks are a little low but I like the way they feel. Is there such a thing as bat top screw in's? Where can I get a pair of those?

The pause switch was a last minute thing, thanks for the suggestion! :D
