I guess I'm not exactly new to the forum, but I am new in California! I just recently moved into the Monterey Bay area. What I am wondering is, are there any warehouses or shops, etc that I should know about? Any members in the area that wouldn't mind showing a newb to the area around?

I'm still getting the house put together, but I'll try to get some pics up of the new arcade.

Welcome to the beautiful State of California.

As a rite of passage, you need to donate a Willow PCB to the first person who mentions it. Well, wouldn't you know, it's me! ;)

But seriously, plenty of great guys in Northern California to get acquainted with. Slackmoe, gregatron, thatguy, Jow, Caddysrule, nutballchamp, Prairied1ll0, tbombaci, p1899m, tronguy, etc. etc. Your best bet would be to go to CAX this year and meet some of these cool dudes.

I'm definitely going to try to get there. Are there any websites I can check for auctions in the mean time?

No auctions around these parts in a long time. At least from my understanding. There's the occasional storage auction, but those are also hit or miss from what I've heard. Then, there's the occasional warehouse raid. There was just one in Fresno a few months back. Just stay connected with these guys and you'll be in the loop. :)

Welcome to Cali! Very nice location that you moved to! The santa cruz beach boardwalk is not too far from you and has a small "old" school arcade with some classics. Sometimes on Craigslist there's an operator from the boardwalk that sell's games really cheap every now and then, I remember a while back he was selling a paperboy for like $300 AND I believe a KLOVer from sacramento drove up to Santa cruz and picked it up, it was a retired game from the boardwalk ,anyways welcome aboard and love to see those pics of the Gameroom!

Well, it looks like you're not in Kansas anymore Toto. :p

Ha ha.

Anyway, Super Auctions held them in several places in California up until fairly recently. Including San Jose. But it appears that they are now defunct. But...Craigslist has amazingly good deals around these parts if you keep your eyes out for them.

You might even find a super rare meth laced Sundance cab free for the taking.:p

your best resource is to network. The more people you know in the hobby the better. That's truly the way to find rare machines and get great deals.

I met the Sand City guy from a craigslist deal several years ago. Nice guy but there probably isn't much left there in the way of projects, you never know though. At the time I think I picked up a DK JR project game for $150. There were definitely parts around the warehouse when I was there but who knows now what the status is. It was in an industrial area as I recall. Welcome, wish I could live down there.

I've heard of a store front that does arcade stuff in Sand City.
A google search brings up this guy. I think he asks for top dollar so it's not a warehouse raid/pricing situation.

saw that and couldn't bring myself to even call about it. I got too many games as it is.

Yeah I didn't call on it either. Thought about posting it here for others to see but it seems to make some people angry when I do that so I don't much any more.
