Hey everyone. I'm new here so I figured I'd introduce myself to those of you who haven't been reading my restoration post. My name is Justin, I'm a 20 year old student from Traverse City, MI

I'm very new to this hobby, I literally just stumbled upon it after I bought my first arcade game (WWF Wrestle Fest). Unfortunately, its a total hack job and is going to take a lot more skill than I have to get into running shape again. I hope to make some friends and hoepfully learn something from you all.

That being said, is anyone up around Traverse City? I heard from one of the members that theres someone from Manistee, but I don't know who it is. I'm looking for someone to talk shop with and maybe learn a bit from up here.

Thanks guys I look forward to talking to all of you!

Welcome..
And what ever ya do feed it after midnight...or water it.

These thing tend to multiply with no warning

If they all are as problematic as this one I'll starve it lol. I picked it up because it ran just fine, just needed body work...well now that I'm really looking at it, essentially only the board and wiring are worth keeping (the monitors....idk what to call it...the stuff at the back of it that wire into the board...melted?) lol

Yep you're gonna catch the fever. My first game was a KISS pinball. It had some minor problems and I had a tech come out to "fix" it. He got it going but then about 2 days later it was messing up again. So I started looking at what he did and was like "well hell I can do that and a better job at that." That was about 10 years ago and now I love getting a new game in (pin or vid) and bringing it up to snuff.

Welcome! I just moved to Oregon from tc about a year and a half ago, but i still have family there. In fact, ill be in traverse the week of the 17th. Hit me up if you want to hang out and talk shop. Sucks there are no arcades in the area (beside the crappy one in the mall).

As others have said, this becomes an addiction fast. I picked up a ms pac a year ago with no intentions of buying any more games, and now I have 7 and a touchscreen. Have fun!

Sweet bro that'd be epic. I literally have no clue what I'm doing (no electrical, tech experience at all), so talking shop would be amazing

Welcome to the addiction, Corvus.

There are some very talented people on the forums who will be of great help in schooling you on the technical side of your game. That said, there's also lots to read....

Google The Real Bob Roberts and you'll find some useful introductory info on game electronics.

its a total hack job. I mean we all know the original is a 4 person game...the guy took a 3 PERSON CABINET...and wired it for 2 PPL...and the monitors probably crapped out (check out my post in the restoration forum) so I'm lost as to what to do, right now I just want it to run I'll restore it when I have money.

Welcome to the addiction, err, I mean the forum. First thing you should do is pick up a few of the essentials. Multimeter, solder iron, etc. You should post some pics of things like your monitor and chassis so someone can help identify what model you have. Also read, read, and read some more. There are loads of knowledgeable people here that are always willing to help out. That is their passion. I also found this site to be great and they have some great tutorial vids on how to do things from beginner to advanced.

Corvus, don't water your arcades. They will just tend to swell, fall apart and smell bad. Laughs.

Every time I see the name Corvus. I just think Hard drive.
Old hard drive system before you were born Laughs..
Where 10 megs hard drives were in the thousands of dollar range lol

I still remember the teacher saying 10 megs is all the school need for all 325 students.
Why would we ever need to upgrade the system.

lol
