Wanted to introduce myself, names Brad ( 26 ) and I live in the lovely state of WI. Currently in Brew-city where the drinks are cheap and women cheaper........ I kid I kid

I have always loved arcade games since I was a little shit, one of my favorite games is Arkanoid.

The other day I was board and searching craigslist and typed in arcade, one of them listed Arkanoid $100 :-0

So I met up with the guy at his home, turns out he lives 1 block from my bro and I know him from meeting him when I used to live where my bro lives. Small world for sure !!!

Since I'm very new I have no clue about this machine, I do know it was worth $100 so I scooped it up. I was surprised to see it was a Mini ( correct term ??? ) and almost thought it was cooler.

The cabinet is pretty clean and crack/water/rot free !!!

The screen does have some burn but is very bright and looks nice when lit, the only ISSUE is the screen twitched a little bit. Seems to go away after playing it for 15 min's

The sound is nice and clear with out any misses.

The keys might be laying around at his brothers and this is something that he has to look into, either way I wanted it.

So I always searched this site but never had any real questions, now I do.

The only info I can see is the metal tag : Taito 114307

Enjoy the pic's

If you have anything to add please do, did I get a bargin and what do these usually go for in decent shape ( No I'm not selling it, this is going into my Future House )

Welcome, and hell yeah its worth $100! I love that style of mini(cabaret). Nice pickup you got there; hope you enjoy it! You might want to post any technical questions in the general/technical help section

Cool and welcome to KLOV! For $100 you did a great first buy, usually you read where someone doublepayed! That looks like you have a Taito cabaret (carbaret=small upright) (mini) probably a Space Invaders or something of that era. Actually just above the coin door is a marquee if you get that paint off you could probably see what it once was and/or install a Arkanoid marquee in that spot. LOL, looks like you got a good sense of humor, you should fit right in! Try and get to know some local guys to ya', eventually you'll start hooking up all the grails you remember as a kid!

Thats a nice little machine. And the addiction starts.....hehe....

I started with Tron just 7 months ago, and now I am upto 7 games.
As time goes on, I learn more and more, so you want another game
to work on.

Welcome aboard.....

dude that's cool.

I started 2 years ago getting a tron cocktail(I love tron)

now I have 9 games and a pin in the garage.

welcome

You got a fair price more in your favor! Parted out you could get more than $100 for everything, so in my book thats doing pretty good. Its in a conversion cab (conversion is described as a game that is put into another's cabinet) so it wasn't originally an Arkanoid, possibly a Taito cabaret Space Invaders (S.I. is a Taito and Midway game totally different cabinets). That one looks to be in pretty descent shape for a conversion so it seriously could be alot worse price and crap wise. So to answer "did you get a bargain" Not a steal but you got a more than fair deal and tops for something like that mint, Arkanoid in a Taito cab maybe $200 if it was really nice with descent artwork and clean build all around.

Nice I will have to see if I can tell what it was, now if I should be unable to get the keys how do you go about finding the correct ones. Or would drilling them out be the next step ?

I know in specific units like Lawnmowers and cheaper tool boxes there is just one type of Key that works on all of them.

I won't be able to start working on this machine as fast as I would like, I bought it becuase it was a deal for my Future House. Currently I have it resting on a rim in the air so moisture doesn't get the best of the pressboard wood.

I'm a Hands on type of Guy so I would like to find the keys soon or drill the lock out to see what it looks like in there :)

wellcome

Wellcome too the Hobby/ The site! I would think thats worth more than 200.00. I thought Mini's where worth more money becouse they are Rarer?

welcome dude , not bad lookin original shape tron you have there , wish the cab I am re-doing was as solid looking lol. we all try to help out where we can with advice and such

I'd just drill the lock out, they're only a couple of dollars and then you have a key. The back may also have a lock. Try getting in through the back maybe screws are holding the back door on alot of times. Then you could undo the lock from the back inside the cabinet. Drilling 'em is pretty easy though... nowadays if its a single sided tumbler I pick 'em, but thats something entirely different and you need some tools.

Sweet game, I'm jealous! That's the type of cab I've been looking for....nice score, dude.

drilling these is pretty easy, just run a 1/4 inch bit all the way thru and the locking arm falls off the back. Great find for a first! Welcome

More WI love!

All I can say is Welcome to the addiction. I too picked up my first cab just over a year ago and am now up to 6 with one of them being an Arkanoid (4th cab I picked up). Working on these games is just as fun as actually playing them.
