New Gen Mobile In Stock - Licensed Sega Genesis Handheld System

Not arcade related, but cool none the less. Many have been waiting for the new Gen Mobile from Hyperkin to clear customs and make it to the manufacturers US facility here in Los Angeles. They have arrived and I am picking a batch of them up on Monday and can ship one to you if you want one.

I am selling these in the GameGavel store if anyone is interested. These play 20 built in Sega Genesis games but also have a cartridge slot to play any Genesis or MegaDrive games. They have a rechargeable battery and can also hook up to your TV to play the games on there as well.

This is a great handheld system!

That looks really cool. Guess I will take one. Black, please.

I have many Sega Genesis carts that would be great to play mobile. :)

Man ... I really need to grab one of these things to play Sonic Spinball again!

Is there a list of the 20 games that come pre-programmed on it?

Any reviews of the handheld out there yet? Guess it wouldn't be possible to plug any of the peripherals into the system, like a 32X? :]

Nice that you can play it on a TV. But too bad no extra port for a second controller.

Agree. Too bad I can't play the Nintendo DS on a bigger screen as those screens on the unit are way too small for me.

Shipping today.

Anyone who ordered one this past week will have their new GenMobile by end of the week. They are shipping today. If anyone else wants one here is where you can get them. Playing me some Golden Axe right now. Sweet!

Does that built in Sonic and Knuckles modify any Sonic carts you plug in? Or does it just act as a stand alone game? Just curious, ignore the question if you want.

On the original Sonic and Knuckles you used to be able to plug in Sonic 2 or 3 to the top of the cart and it would modify the original game in Sonic 2 and 3. See here:

I am not sure if that would still work or not. I think the built in game is just the stand alone game. I will ask my contact at Hyperkin. I forgot about that :)

Looks cool! Only thing is the built in games leave much to be desired. I was a Genesis junky and I remember much better games on that system...only an opinion....

I am not put off at all by the included games or features of the system. I still have all my carts from BITD and have picked up more. Can't wait to play Genesis mobile. You guys sure can pick apart and complain about anything - amazing! :)

Something could be the most awesome thing ever and someone would be like "sure but it doesn't do this". Guess what? It probably never will. I am glad to see this product offered and at a quite reasonable price.

We all have our opinions. :)

My big question is how long do batteries last? That was the killer on the Game Gear and especially the Nomad.

So how is that tiny screen? Does it strain the eyes after a while or blur during fast game action? How does the screen compare to the NDS?

Does it work with games like Alien Soldier that had lockout code to prevent play on the American Genesis system?
