New Gameroom Layout in Google SketchUp

Very nice!

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

I have added SketchUp to my list of things to play with in my copious amounts of spare time :D.

I went off ggdb numbers and eyeballed everything else. So it should be accurate to figure out floor space, ceiling clearance and what not. I have one, but I'll probably never make the time to draw up a completely accurate one. Too much work!

gozer's 720 is definitely better looking, though.

Threw the Spy Hunter sitdown up there, too:

Spy hunter sitdown! awesomeness. I also like your 720. In all honesty it's probably more accurate than mine. I outta show you my Roadburners model.

I love this thread.

Been working on a new layout. Trying some black light carpet patterns out, too. :) Just got the Star Wars, so I whipped one up just for size.

Sheesh, I can't wait to make this thing real.

Looks awesome man, but much like the interior of the Flintstones' house, the space looks bigger in fantasy land than it would be in reality. Your mock-up shows the ideal set-up though.

Thanks. It's a nice way to kill some time.

I'm just hoping it works out where if someone's playing a game, there's still enough space to walk behind them. I should download some virtual 3d humans into it and see how it works.

I've found (at least with my layout), 2' is needed in front of the game for people to be able to get passed the player. So games that are opposite each other would need a total of 4'.

I downloaded a 3D guy and scaled him to average human dimensions plus 10%.

It's close in that spot between the PP cockpit and the Vindicators, but if I swap the Vindicators and the Ikari Warriors, it would be a little better.

I think I will name the center "The Omnidirectional Fun Cluster."

'nother angle

What a cool shot. Looks like 2 inches less and there's gonna be a fight. Random profile silhouette is gonna beat random backside silhouette senseless for messing up his game of whatever that is. But if I was random backside silhouette, I'd question what part of random profile silhouette's game I really ruined by bumping into him, as his hands are nowhere near the controls. I'd follow up said question with a law suit.

This picture right here sums up why I love the program so much.

Just awesome. I took the time to make 30 or so dedicated styles and overall about 70 games. It's so nice to be able to have the cab, then insert it onto a mockup of your garage or basement arcade and see how it fits, and where best to manuever other games.

I've found that a minimum of 4' is required when two game rows are looking at each other, but whenever possible 5' is the magic number.

If there's ever a conflict, Megatron will mediate.

Yup, it's really cool to just know if something is going to work or not. I've already messed with my layout yet again to see if I can allow better access to the two player games by throwing one player games in between.

Alright, this should work better:

I alternated 1 and 2 player games on the wall on the right (looking at the first picture), with the spacing, they can all be played at the same time easier. The other two player games, Vindicators and Forgotten Worlds, are on the left of the central cluster, with a little bit of spacing on the right, they should also be easier to play two players on without crowding other games.

Again, can't wait to try this layout out for real. :D

Edit: hmm, these came out smaller than I figured.

If you get that many guys in the gameroom, you'd better have some good air circulation! Nice job with the models. I still have to do this for my gameroom since my games are spilling out into the rest of the basement.
