New Gameroom Layout in Google SketchUp

I've got models of just about every game in my collection. The pins aren't accurate, I think they're modified from some old EMs someone already uploaded to the main model share.

Here's an old thread, my models are a bit better now:

Latest mockup:

The Dynamo cabs are based of one someone already uploaded to http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/. thombaci did the nintys, and my red punch out is based on his ninty cab. The pac cab was in the 3d warehouse as well.

I'm going to upload the other to the 3dwarehouse at some point, just haven't had time to. Maybe I'll do it today.

Wow, great looking models. You're 720 looks better than mine. I like that Vindicators too.

Looks great! Will have to download a few of the models and fix my gameroom layout.

Can someone mock up a 12 foot by 12 foot nine room for me? standing in the lower right corner is the entrance, dead ahead is the far corner of the room, 12 foot wall on the left, 12 foot 9 wall on the right. Now place Asteroids Deluxe at a 45 degree angle, facing you in the far corner (straight out from where you are standing), a Berzerk in the left corner and a Moon Patrol in the right. The Berzerk and Moon Patrol also are faced toward the viewer, running parallel to the walls to your immediate left and right. I tried but my computer freezes. My query is, will an Atari cocktail fit between the AD and MP, and between the AD and Berzerk?

My models aren't accurate enough in inches to find out exact fits like that. However, you could probably find out just as easy, if you just used graph paper.

Hey gibbous, are your models in 3D warehouse?

I just started using Sketchup...it's great. You can see my models here:

I'm planning on making models for most of my games as soon as I get rid of the flu. All my models should be accurate to scale. I probably went overboard, but I made the joysticks, buttons, etc....

I saw that Defender on there, which is pretty cool, and tbombaci's DK. I *think* that one might not be the right size. I put my Mario Bros. model right next to it, and the DK model is quite a bit taller. I measured my (real world) Popeye and I think the model is a few inches off. I didn't check the width, I'm guessing that's probably OK.

How can you have a 12' wall on the left and a 12' 9" on the right? Is the room square or odd shaped?

I mean left and right as in radiating from the corner directly in front of the viewer. 2 parallel walls in the room are 12 feet (N &S walls), the other 2 are 12'9" (E & W walls). The entrance door is in the extreme SW corner of the room.

Something like this?

Thanks! I liked doing that Vindicators and the 720. The only thing accurate about them is the L, W, and D. I just eyeballed everything else, but I like how they came out. I'm still learning the nuances of the software.

Hmm, actually I think I have the spinner and joysticks reversed on the Forgotten Worlds. :p

Thanks. When I post them up, I'll post a link here. They're all in one file now, I should break them up.

tbombaci's look really nice, but, I haven't compared the dimensions to my Popeye cab, so I actually don't know if they're accurate. You can always scale them. At one time a year or two ago when I first started using sketchup, I had a wide body Mario which I think I just scaled and re colored one of his to get.

I also have my Megalo 410, Pony Mark III and Astro City candy cabs as models.

I haven't checked the warehouse in a while, someone may have better models by now.

Hey, I see you've got a Spy hunter in a Asteroids Deluxe. Looks good though. I made a Pole Position, Outrun, Top speed, and Off-road. The steering wheel games are my achilles heel. So many curves to make. They're not perfect, but like you said, its close enough to help visualize the space.

Almost, but rotate the game at the top of the diagram to face straight down toward the closest corner to the viewer, and the rotate one on the right to face the same corner.

Ok, here:

Who are the 5 dudes?

Those are the Phet Phans!

Actually, like gozer5454 said, they are place holders for people so you can get an idea of how much room a player might have.

Actually, they are just some generic Cocktail that I found in the 3D Gallery. It's not exact, but it should be good enough to give you an idea of whether or not the game would fit.

I was just razzing you my man. The layout is what I was after. You are the best.

This is slowly becoming my favorite thread. I love looking at everyone else's models as much as seeing the "show us your gameroom pics" threads. Very cool stuff.

Hey Arcadenut, here's another picture you and gibbous might enjoy. How about some drivers, eh?
