Ok, I spent a couple hours converting my Gameroom Layout to Google SketchUp.

I used my Defender Model for all the games, and I mocked up a Quick Pinball machine (accurate enough for this purpose). I also made a little Token Machine (not really good, but was a 5 min thing).

If you want to do that same all you have to do is copy the games from my Gameroom Model or create your own.

The Marquees were just imported JPGs. It was quick and dirty just to ID the games.

You can download the Google SketchUp File from here:

If anything, you now know what it looks like if you had 24 Defenders in a gameroom :D

I love google sketchup. One of the best ways to quickly create a room based on real measurements and then install cabs to accurately show space. I did this for my buddy's room. I created many custom models from this program. Some of which are Battlezone, Space harrier, afterburner, house of the dead, steel talons, konami cabs, data east cabs, toobin, and on and on and on. One of these days I'll probably figure out how to uplaod them to the sketchup site so others can use them. As of right now, I could probably email the files to people who need them.

How did you make the screenshot of your room a jpeg for upload here? I wanted to show people some first person views of some of my gamerooms, but didn't know how to capture it.

ALT-Print Screen, then I used Paint Shop Pro to save the image (after Cropping it).

One thing I'm going to try here shortly is this:

http://sketchup.google.com/download/plugins.html#gsuwebexporter

NOTE: This plugin wants to isntall in Google SketchUp 6, just change the path to 7 and it will work.

It allows you to export your Model in an Interactive (limited) model for the web site. Basically takes a bunch of images of the model at various angles that it loads and switches through. You could probably take those and turn into an Animated GIF.

I like the way you setup you're gameroom arcadenut. The sketchup helps you decide where to position games and what color to paint walls, without having to guess or break you're back.

I mocked up my buddies gameroom here:

Unfortunatley, it is so much information for my crappy computer to digest, that I had to remove some artwork off some games for it to look around. bummer.

A zoomed up portion of one of his sections helps show better details.

Damn, you spent some time on that :) Looks great.

BTW: What are your computer specs?

no idea. I bought this bottom of the line compaq setup at best buy in 2006. It's mainly opening up and moving around anything in Sketchup which just sucks. There's just way too much information for my poor little computer to process on the screens.

If I had to guess, I would bet that you need more RAM. You should look into upgrading it. If you have less then 2GB, it's probably a good idea to upgrade.

I will PM you my shipping address. Since you're a Klov brother, I will of course, not charge you storage fees...

I don't think you can afford the shipping charges... after all, these are all HUO MINT and R@R3!!

A couple of them just need fuse holders, fuses, boards, monitors, paint, bondo, etc... but MINT!

Are they from your personal collection? I'm not interested in non-personal collections

No problem - as long as they are Ninty, omgwtfbbq...

:)

It would be cool if everyone that mocked up a game could share it that way we could build a repository of games that people can use to do a layout.

I would like to see people make them accurate enough to reproduce the actual cab, or part of the cab.

The Defender I did should be accurate enough for someone to build an entire cabinet from scratch. The Pinball machine on the other hand, was just accurate enough to indicate the space taken up by it.

that's the way I did it. Not a single one I made was 100% accurate. However they are all close enough in height, width, and appearance to help users decide the best way to place em.

I've got models of just about every game in my collection. The pins aren't accurate, I think they're modified from some old EMs someone already uploaded to the main model share.

Here's an old thread, my models are a bit better now:

The Dynamo cabs are based of one someone already uploaded to http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/. thombaci did the nintys, and my red punch out is based on his ninty cab. The pac cab was in the 3d warehouse as well.

I'm going to upload the other to the 3dwarehouse at some point, just haven't had time to. Maybe I'll do it today.
