I just picked up this Japanese Space Invaders Cocktail, and it ill only do this, when turned on. I'm sure it is probablly a simple fix, but am having trouble finding any info. Could someone tell me what this is and what causes it. Thank You.

If there is only scrambled video and no sound it could be a few things.

1. The linear power supply may have a voltage drop. Make sure to check with a multi-meter that the voltage meets the requirements for the game board. I don't know pinouts for this one but a basic JAMMA game runs on +5v and +12v DC....this probably is not JAMMA. Google it or look for a possible manual.

2. The game board is at fault. Possibly gouged traces. Faulty EPROMS or IC sockets. Dead components like that are a common case for older games because of the crappy construction and materials used to make the game boards.

3. I'd rule out the monitor considering the visual given and no audio, but don't assume that the monitor is in near perfect condition.....lol....these things are old.

Out of curiosity what did you pay for that? Im looking at a Japanese Glaxian.

More than i should have. I gave them $100, but only because the monitor looks brand new, no burn, and everything is original, You cant tell from the pictures but the cabinet is perfect, and the original Japanese stickers are still on it. The glass on top only has very little minor scratches. It was well cared for.

I havent measured anything yet, just because it is a tight fit and didnt fell like getting knocked on my ass because i was dog tired, i will try getting some readings when i get home tonight.

I know it isnt jamma, and have not found a Owners Manual link that will work.

You can't tell from the pictures but its not a scrambled picture, but solid colors, almost like it was stuck in a color test mode, i will try to dig into it more tonight.

Also thanks for the ideas, i didnt even try to play it blind. ( being tired sucks).
