New Game: Sega Rally Championship - Deluxe sitdown

I just got this deluxe model Sega Rally Championship. It is currently in the garage while I get it cleaned up. You will not believe that I got this from a guy who had it in his mobile home. I'm not kidding, half of his kitchen was this game, the other half of the kitchen was the sink, fridge and stove. Apparently his wife wanted him to get rid of this. Believe it or not, he had 2 of these but the monitor went bad in the other one. He pulled all the parts out of it so I received all the parts from a second game plus this working one. I will have these parts up in the for sale section. Just PM me if you are looking for anything. In the meantime the little guy is really digging this game. One last thing, the TV has 3 color guns that needed convergence. I used the built-in controls and did the convergence with the white cross as much as it would go. However, I am a stickler for perfection and the onscreen controls will not get it perfect. I know there is a way to open these up and manually converge the guns, so if anyone has any pointers just send me in the right direction.

Ha, I knew that was the CL one before I even clicked on it. Nice score. I had been contimplating that one but theres really no way I could get it here.

Beautiful! That game is right up there with Daytona USA for me. I can't believe that, a mobile home? I met a guy with a Gorgar pinball in his mobile home and wondered how it got into his back room. That game looks awesome I've never seen the deluxe. Post a video of the little guy playing if you can!

Interesting find in this game. A Gameworks Ontario smartcard was hidden inbetween some stuff. A quick lookup shows a Gameworks in Ontario, California and currently in their lineup is a Sega Rally 3 Deluxe sitdown model. I guess this one was retired when they brought Sega Rally 2 in, and it then made its way across the country.

Nice! Love that game.

MONITOR CONVERGENCE:
Look up the model number online for "manufacturer setup / menu" -- there's usually some button combo that needs to be done to get a special in-depth menu system. One I have right now requires you to hold both VOL DOWN and CH DOWN on the front panel for 8 seconds, then the TV powers up into the Factory Menu system which has highly detailed options including 25-pt convergence adjustments.

Long medium left maybe!

Awesome find! How much did it set you back if you don't mind? Looking forward to more pics when it's all cleaned up!

Well I did it as a trade. I don't want to mention the trade, but it was something I bought over 15 years ago and never use anymore. It was not a vehicle. Well worth it in my opinion.

I opened up the TV set (a Mitsubishi VS-50SE1) and found the convergence board which had about 30 little pots for all kinds of bows, skews, width, height, tilt, dynamic sizing, etc for red and another for blue. I am guessing guessing green is static and you converge the red and blue onto the green. I spent more than an hour playing with each pot. I have most of it converged after an hour, will probably play around with it a little more. They couldn't make this any easier, could they.

Good news is the seller gave me spare TV boards out of the other VS-50SE1 so if I had any major problems I'm good to go, unless someone else needs these more than me.

So, does this thing have a chance at being added to "The Basement" or is it garage only? Looking forward to seeing where it ends up!

Brendan

Oh it will make it to the basement arcade alright. It'll be a 2 or 3 weeks before I get everything the way I want it, all 3 pieces moved and reassembled, and then the website updated. But this thing is just too unique and such a wow factor I have to get it down there.

Can you do me a huge favor and take a picture of how the connectors are plugged into the chassis? I'm mainly trying to figure out how the boards in the small compartment to the right are connected to the main board. I have one of these monitors that the whole board flew out of. Nothing is broken but everything did get unplugged.

PM has been sent.
