Ok just picked up this dedicated MK3 yesterday. It's not in the best condition but feel I got a pretty good price.

I noticed there is no isolation transformer in the game. It's a Hanatrex Polo monitor. The inside looks all gutted up and the cables are spliced etc. This guy changed out all the buttons to light up buttons and because it required more power I believe they are hooked directly to the power supply.

For anyone with a dedicated MK3 could I see a picture or two of the inside of the cabinet? I'm curious to see what it should look like.

Also the guy broke the tempered glass on the game because it's missing the bracket that holds the glass in. I need a new piece of glass :-(

There's no isolation transformer in those cabinets, because the newer monitors like the Polo's don't need one, but there was a power 'brick' that really didn't do anything besides provide a fuse, and split the ground and a/c wires up. You could track one down and replace it or just wire everything up (if it's working it's probably already all wired up).

Really? I assumed the Polo need an isolation transformer because my MK2 has a Polo and it has an isolation transformer.

I believe the game is upside down in my cabinet but is the power supply in the correct position in the cabinet? I doubt it because nothing can really be accessed.

Overall, the cab doesn't look TOO bad-a-shape, but some of those scratches are pretty rough. First thing, get rid of those dumb LED buttons. Second, turn that PCB around. Third, get an ISO for the monitor. It MAY not need it, but I think it does and ISO's cost much less than a new chassis.

Congrats on the new purchase. The CP art looks like it's in good shape, so that's a plus.

You would not replace the chassis just because you blew a few power supply components by powering it up without an iso... I'm pretty certain the Polo doesn't need one though.

the Polo does not need an iso. however, I've found that they probably last longer with an iso. I also hate when MAME-esque morons ruin cabs. I'm shocked an LCD isn't in there instead.

yup yup.

for the price you did great regardless of the scratches, all the polo's i've ever seen running have been on an iso, i have discussed isoless polo's with mecha tho a couple times. Polo's are great monitors when they are 100%

I'm sure that harness could be soldered back together (keeping it original), or you can just replace it completely.

keep us updated on the progress you make in returning it to it's original glory.

edit, oh yea that power cord metal plate on the outside is on upside down as well :D

Oh this was going to happen. He told me he was planning on putting an LCD in and he'd charge me more if I still wanted it.

Good catch Brood. Not sure why someone would flip that power cord plate and also the PCB. Weird.

Also the molex connector fastened to the monitor chassis was super glued on and not soldered. WTF?

Did dedicated MK3 cabs have a separate piece of wood for the pcb to mount to or are they normally against the wall?

Who the hell would butcher that with LED buttons?? Yeah replace those immediately... Great pickup.. CPO looks great and side art can be fixed with time..

my guess is same person that super glued the monitor molex and hacked up the rest of the internals. atleast it's in good hands now :D

Lmao!!!!! Was this Picked up in Michigan ? If so I'll tell ya the story behind it!!!!

Please do!

Came from there. He drove it to Griffith, IN. Wires are hacked up!!

OK guys hooked up the monitor and as you can see I'm only getting a horizontal line. I unplugged the remote control unit in front and plugged it directly into the chassis and it started to show the actual game. I tried another remote control unit from my MK II Polo and same thing. I'm assuming it must be the long cable that attaches to the chassis to the front but this sounds strange to me, right?

This is the shitty electric tape job to the monitor from the jamma cable:

It came from a horse barn and it smelled like shit when it showed up at my house with hay and crap in it.... The horses ripped out all the wires from the cab...Even ripped out everything on the original monitor that was in it.....

Ouch. So you bought it from the barn and then resold to a dude named Anthony? Well I'll tell you it doesn't smell like shit anymore but reeked of cigarettes and still does a little. I vacuumed it out and it's clean now.

Still wondering where I'm supposed to put the power supply in the game? Pics of a dedicated MK3 back anyone?

Thanks!
