I picked up this game on the cheap today! As a parts machine... but I think it can be repaired.

She is a little rough (The glass that is) but cleaned up awesome! It needs side art as well.

I drove 300 miles round trip to get her...lol

1. It powers up, coins up, but it seems to be missing the bands it uses to move the bar... anyone know where to get replacements?

2. I was told switch #2 was faulty... I only have diagrams for 3 & 4 Does anyone know what this means and where to get replacements?

3. The bar seems to scrap the glass or playfield (the 2 little notches) is this normal?

Thanks! 1 more post of pictures after this one!

nice game, andy! that's super clean. for the belts, check bob robert's site. he has a fix on there using windshield washer tubing.

Cool! Great pickup, they are fun games that are addictive (ICB & Zeke's Peak)

To answer your questions...
#1 - You can use standard automotive vacuum tubing with plastic connectors. I believe its 1/8 O.D. tubing that you want, which will be 3/32 I.D. I believe (but just measure it at the parts store. Remember to get two connectors for it. then you can trim to snug and adjust later as it stretches out by cutting a piece of the hose off and re-attaching the hose connector. I clamp mine where the connector is into the clamp that the holds the belt, that way it doesn't mind with the pulleys.

#2 - It may just need an adjustment or bend of the arm. They do look a little different than a standard switch, but it wouldn't be too hard to find a replacement or something that will work. I'd check it with an ohm meter first and make sure its closing the switch. Alot of times from all the years of that thing getting hit by the ball it bends the arm just enough that it won't quite close all the way.

#3 - There is little plastic bushings (rectangle) that ride against the playfield. Aside from replacing those, I'm not sure that you can keep it from rubbing unless something is bent or mis-aligned.

The trick to getting these to work good is clean all the old grease out of the bar that slides and both rods on the left and right. Lubricate the center of the pulleys with a drop or 3 of 3-1 oil, find something non-sticky to lube the bar and rods on the left and right. Make sure that the belts are equally snug and pretty tight, but not enough that its binding. If they're not pretty tight they will slip and the bar will not go up.

I have both the ICB & Zeke's Peak, I can try and help you with any questions that you might have... GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THE KICK ASS GAME!!

$200-$600+ depending on condition... I've seen them pull over 6, and be given away for next to nothing. Zeke's Peak seems to sell for a little bit more...

the OP i got my Battlezone from had 2 of these sitting in his warehouse. Didnt get a good look at them as i wasnt interested at the time. Might have to see what he wants for them.

I'm actually looking for a Zeke's Peak. But they don't seem to come up for sale much. I like your 2 twins you have in the closet Fullthrottle. So jealous..
You mean these? :D After owning both I'd have to say that the ZP has an edge over the ICB but they're both kickass!

If you have a rifle cleaning kit, it's handy for cleaning the insides of the sliding rod assembly. As for lubrication, a little silicone spray or light oil on the rod only, run the side bearings dry but clean them well first.

The vertical chrome rods should be degreased and polished with a good quality chrome polish, and run dry without grease or oil since the rod bearings are nylon.

If the assembly is rubbing the glass, the whole playfield probably isn't sitting flush inside the cabinet. Those tend to move around during transit.

As for the belts, vacuum tubing is typically recommended but it can be too thick. I like to use the small tubing that's used on windshield wiper arms and join it together with a piece of something small like a 6/32 threaded section about an inch long that I cut from a machine screw. When you assemble it, place the joint under the clamp so it never goes around the pulleys.

Also check the plastic ball return tray, those tend to crack creating a dish where the ball get's trapped. You can repair them with a small scrap of plastic and some JB Weld, rough up the glued area first with some 60 grit to give the glue a place to bite.

It's a fun game but the key to maximum enjoyment is to get them working perfectly. Playing one with dried out grease that loose belts is frustrating :)

I have the Taito version and the I.C.E. version of this game. I really enjoy the I.C.E. version better. Actually plays 99 bottles of beer on the wall in the background. Has cool sound effects. Visually looks better. Biggest drawback is the game is much taller and the CP is absolutely huge for some reason.

I even have the woman's "approval" to buy either one of them. How cool is that! Hhaha..now I just need to actually locate one.

I'm selling my Taito version if interested. Its fully working and is in better shape cosmetically than most I've seen. Side art is fully intact and has a new CPO.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! This prolly isnt the nicest version that will be found, but I think I can make her work until I find a better cab and glass. I cant wait to get this thing going! Full Throttle You may get some PMs...lol So this version (Taito) does not play 99 bottles of beer?

I honestly can't remember if it plays music or not. I never turn that one on anymore. My other version gets all the love now.
