Well I just got home from picking up a nice working Zaxxon. The only real issue is there is some garbage after market joystick and the coin door area must have been kicked in at one time and has a huge padlock hasp and some broken wood. The side art is good enough for me, slight peeling and I guess MT loves TR. Even found $2 in quarters rolling around the bottom.

Besides the joystick everything else seems to be original. There is a burn in tag dated 6-1-82 and roughly 42500 plays on the counter.

Pictures soon because it really did happen.

Zaxxon really was never near the top of my want list, but for $100 it's hard to say no.

Welcome to our strange little club. Nice to see you're familiar with the "Pics or it didn't happen." ;)

You're a lurker. Awesome.

Nice score, too! I was a big ZX fan BITD.

Nice, have fun with it....

Yet another Zaxxon cabinet with mostly full side art. There really is some truth that Zaxxon was in the arcades prior to bored kids destroying cabinet graphics game days.

Between Blast and the personal Zaxxon games I've had in the past, I can say at least 90% had side art intact.

Too bad the cabs were so poorly made. If only they had used better material there would be a lot of minty zaxxon cabs.

Even better materials wouldn't help with design....that coin door concept just is NASTY and evil. How many of you have been bitten by that coin door as it swings open unexpectedly when moving it? Even if its in the lower position, the coin mechs are just waiting to gouge your legs. Of course, who needs access to the rear of the cabinet below the game pcb? Anyone? The designers of that Sega cabinet must have hated the tech department.

It's a tie between Sega's Frogger cabinet and Zaxxon with the least ergonomically design for access.

True, it's a crappy design, but the cabinet is built like a tank. I have one that is completely solid. You just have to lock the coin door and your legs are safe.

Lock on a coin door....that's overrated. My games are lucky enough to have drywall screws holding the back door on, and with those Sega cabs, a drywall screw wedged between the coin door and inner side of the cab. There's really no way of holding that door up aside from installing a lock....:D

Well I have been looking at the game now for a bit and I have a questions. I have seen a few different pictures of the game sometimes it's brown (like mine) and other times it's the stylish wood paneling look. Did the factory make a change during production?
