... this is probably going to be a long thread as I'm going to update it (if I remember) as I move along with the thing. First step is getting in cleaned up and cleaned out.

I've already started taking the joysticks and extra buttons off.

Next step is going to be replacing the score board and getting something in there running while I hunt down all the pieces I need. Daphne, here I come.

Well... I guess that would go to explain why part of the burn in on the screen says something along the lines of "ADULT SEX"... right in the middle of the screen...

I manged to get it running right for Dragon's Lair... that's all I was really concerned with. I'm no expert, that's for sure.

I messed with it a lot a pretty long time ago, but I wasn't sure if I had all of the proper ROM's and video files. I have since got them all verified on DVD but am still having issues. I now have windows 7 on the pc I was trying to use so that's probably part of the problem.

Either way, I'm looking forward to this thread!

Touche' I'd consider just turning the CP into a complete top of buttons - drills more holes populate, then only wire the few you need at random.. Would be a game in itself.

I think I'm just going to cut the middle out of the CP, I'll leave about 1-1/2" on both sides to save the angle and length. Then just cut out a new piece of metal, weld it in, weld-fill the little holes. Get a new CPO, mark what I need to, re-drill them smooth everything down, put on the CPO and call it done.

I'm probably going to need a LOT of help with this... while I'm working on hunting everything down I'll just get a VGA->RGB card, build an LPT->ScoreBoard cable, get a repro scoreboard from Hudson, and run Daphne for a while... I WILL be taking this back to a real Dragon's Lair. I'm more worried about cosmetics and getting something running in there for now.

The monitor, of course, needs some work... but that's given.

I'm definitely in for the long haul on this, I'd love to see this restored. I don't know if you work with a lot of metal or not, but have you considered checking with a local metal/welding shop? You might be able to get it patched pretty cheap, especially if you pitch it to them as a "whenever you can get to it" project.

Well, that was more painful and faster than I thought.

*that's what she said*

Anywho... it looks like I'm 1 ROM board away from having everything I need to put her together. I have pretty much EVERYTHING else... harness, player, PS, disc, etc etc etc etc etc (etc etc). But it doesn't look like a ROM board is going to be included in the kit... no biggie, still psyched to get everything else. Even a new (to me) CP so I don't HAVE to repair the one I have (but I probably will still repair it and sell it off).

Now I just have to hunt down a reasonably priced ROM board... WORKING ROM board...

So... should have a BIG update on this in a week or so.

Your's is still in better condition than mine. :)

Payment for the DL kit was completed yesterday... should be getting boxed up and sent out soon. Should be able to start working on it sometime next weekend'sh... I hope.

I'm just really hoping everything gets here in one piece and in working order.

Either way, I'm probably going to need a few pics to help out with the wiring and general layout of everything. I'm not sure if any have been posted yet or not, haven't looked yet.

But since this thing was gutted and Jamma'd when I got it... the only thing I really have left in there from DL is the speakers, a few snippets or the old harness that were left in the bottom of the cabinet just to tease me, the transformer, monitor (minus the NTSC card), and the ISO.

So I'm going to have to find (or take) some pictures of the layout of a DL's wiring and where all the parts go to see if I can get this thing back to where it should be.

Even WITH everything, the monitor is still going to look like crap because I spent everything I had on this kit... not even enough money to order a 4900 capkit. lol

The side art will be stored and saved until I get back above water enough to replace the black vinyl on the cabinet.

As for the marquee... I have next to no idea on how to remove the old art from the marquee without destroying the plexi frame underneath.

Yep! I posted this a while back.

Your DL is good, but my ROBOCOP DL/ ROBOLAIR was "Craptastic" LOL Good luck man!
I used a heat gun to remove the robocop overlay on my Plexi. The adhesive that was stuck on the plexi was the hard part. WD40 takes it right off. I used Goof off, windex, soap and water, spray and wash, but the only thing that worked was the WD40. Then wash the Plexi with Dawn dish soap.

It was in the FS section last week'sh. Maybe this week'sh?... I can't remember.

Either way, I'm really eager to start putting everything together when it gets here. ... I think it's getting shipped out the beginning of next week. So it'll probably be getting here next Saturday or so.

Okay, finally started really working on this a couple of days ago.

Got the LD player tested, boards tested (as best I could), NTSC decoder tested, cabinet cleaned, and a LOT of parts ordered (last bits of the harness I was missing and cable for the LD player control).

Spent this morning cleaning the monitor and chassis. Got that done atleast while I wait for the other parts to get here.

Monitor still needs a recap (among the parts I ordered).

The only part I forgot to order was the connector for the RGB/S/G on the chassis... I HATE when I do that.

But, everything else should be here soon. I'm going to hold off on the side art and stuff like that until she's 100% running.

Right now I still have to trick the LD player into running and still can't hear much of anything but static (missing the pots and harness piece that plugs into them... on order).

Even WHEN everything gets here, I'll still be short a bezel and smoked plexi/glass... but this is good enough for now.

Well, last part came in finally. Big thanks to johnny1 for selling me a scoreboard. The one that was supposed to come with the kit never came in and the seller stopped responding to my messages.

Eitherway, finally complete as far as parts. You can see the sideart and CPO on top of the machine waiting for me to order in some vinyl.
