New Episode of Coin-Op Corner -1960's Cigarette Vending Machine

Great vid and sorry about your grandpa. Lost my last (and best) one in 2020. I've always been fascinated by cigarette machines. As mentioned, they used to be in every lobby of every commercial business back in the 70s and early 80s. Yours look like they use push buttons, the ones I remember had the pull levers. There was something very satisfying about pulling that lever back and hearing the internal process of the product being dispensed. I also remember the candy vending machines. There was one in the waiting room of the small town hospital I used to go to as a kid. I believe it sat next to both a soup/coffee machine and a cigarette machine. I think they only had like eight or nine total displayed candies and they operated much like the cigarette machines. I'd love to find one of those.

Everyone who I've talked to about this machine, the first thing they ask is "Is it that one where you pull out the lever? I used to love the sound that made!" Evidently those had more of a cultural impact than my lowly-push-button.

I can remember when cigarette machines where everywhere.
Yep. Every hotel lobby. Most barber shops. Gas stations, restaurant entrances.

They were ubiquitous, and very large.

I wonder if they were profit centers back in the day?

Gotta love a cig

Gotta love a cigarette machine in a hospital.

Is that a smokeshop century? I've actually got a manual and schematics for one. Always thought they were cool. I've also got scans of the little product inserts. I couldn't give the originals away, so they got scanned and trashed.
