I purchased an stand up arcade cabinet several years ago and I'm finally getting around to see if I can make some improvements.

One area I'm not sure about is the controls (joysticks/buttons).

The layout is currently three buttons for each player (picture attached).

I would like to increase the buttons for additional game compatibility.

The controls are mounted on a metal plate that locks from inside the cabinet - I assume this is the standard way controls were mounted.

So, time for some stupid questions. :)

I know a MAME built cabinet usually has a larger area for controls; are there any recommended button layouts for the size of this one?

If I wanted to add buttons, would I purchase another metal plate with additional button cutouts? Do those exist?

Also, I know you can buy art for the control area, but on this one the design goes further down the cabinet (see pic). How is this usually handled? Would the control area art usually cover the whole area?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit - for some reason I'm getting invalid format for all photo upload, even though they are under 1MB.

Can we embed a Google Photo link or is that against the board policies?
