New CNC cut painted cab pics

Here are some better pics of the cabinets that left on Sunday for Wisconsin. These are CNC cut cabinets that were cut out by DPTwiz and painted by me. Get ahold of Brett if you are interested in one of any of these for your own collection. :)

Those are super nice. If I may suggest since you're going through so much trouble to make these as close to perfect as possible the Robotron silver appears way too dark. I can't imagine the lighting in your garage caused it to appear that dark but maybe? I followed the color code on prOks site and found it to be an excellent match. Also you guys really should advertise whether these are rolled or sprayed (did I miss it by chance?). BTW love the plotter paper backdrop lol.

these are sprayed with an Hvlp automotive gun. The Silver on the robotron is an automotive based silver metal flake. While it's not the same as original, it is absolutely badass. it sparkles in the light, and is a vast improvement over the factory. Ask the new owner who is a robotron fanatic if it looks better than original! West coast division.. i have offered to expand to that region, if a Klov member with space, time, and the finances to purchase a CNC like mine (about 13,500.00 ready to rock) and do a partnership. I'd be glad to supply my cabinet files to someone willing to make that kind of investment, if we could come up with some kind of partnership deal.

Deadly, the Silver is correct as far as the shade of it, it just has a metalflake color to it which makes it reflect more light and look a bit lighter than it is. To correct for that I adjusted the brightness in photoshop. The Blue is a slight bit brighter than the original. I put these next to my Robotron while I was working on them, and they are pretty damn close. As far as the background, that is not plotter paper. That is and actual photo backdrop that I borrowed from my girlfriend who is a professional photographer/graphic designer. lol. I should have asked her to take all the pics, they would have turned out better.

You should look into painting and shipping flat ala Ikea. I can see 3 or 4 of those I would buy as shipping an empty cab costs as much as a full one but you could get quite a few on a framed pallet if they were stacked and strapped with some cardboard inbetween..

Tester, I said it earlier, but you might have missed it. Since these are factory accurate reproductions, home assembly in almost out of the question. Making kits for them would be alright, but the directions would be insane!! Maybe we are just to lazy. Michigan Classic Arcade is selling plans on how to make a Nintendo, but his plans involve using the drawings at the Jakobud site, which are nowhere near correct.

How about an East Coast partnership? Hmmm...something to think about.

well far up east heh you and i are in adjoining states!

true, probably a LOT closer for the guys up east. Hey, if your serious, pm me for my number.

I can see if they were stapled together they would be tough to get aligned.
But what I was thinking was if you had pre-drilled holes that 2" dowels went into (like Ikea http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/20-Hardwood-B...3QQcmdZViewItemQQssPageNameZRSS:B:SILF:GB:101), then the alignment wouldn't be an issue (step 9 http://www.ehow.com/how_2000031_assemble-ikea-expedit-bookcase.html). Add in some triangle blocks like most cabs have for the support and it should be do-able with some PL-4000 or something similar and not much else. I would add in some metal L-shaped angle supports (like this or wider http://andyhuajin.en.ec21.com/Timber_Connectors_Angle_Connectors_Wood--3691246_3691262.html) and it should be structurally fine. Could you program those holes into the cnc?

Tester I think your idea is a sound enough one, but our goal with these was to make them as near to factory accurate as possible. The Nintendo cabinets, as well as the other cabinet styles have a ton of parts that would all require labeling and a lot more work. It just seems not worth it in the long run. We will have to see how things flesh out. As of right now I would say that is just not in the cards.

Here are some more pics of some of the cabinets.

Nintendo - Orange - with some DKJr parts added.
