NEW CAB DAY!!! It's always exciting

Don't forget to check out my thread on splitting the CPO on a corner cut so that the Capcom logo shows on the top face of the CP.

The HS5 25" cabs can do the same but the monitor is mounted to two pieces of wood (top and bottom) to create the same effect instead of just stuck in one square piece of wood. I'm not sure if the Z-back cabs have the same thing since I don't like them, I've never owned one.

You'll find that some empty cabs that you find may have lost their monitor mounting pieces of wood. This is a problem if you can't find a template to build new ones. I was able to figure it out myself on my HS5 cab that I got empty.

My HS5 actually has metal mounting brackets. There are a set on the top and on the side, then there are two pieces of metal that will bolt to your monitor frame, and then whichever brackets you need to mount to at the time.

Hmmm Pics? I've seen 3 with the two planks of wood that the bolts and wing nuts go through to hold down the monitor.

Forget the big blues, they are nice in some ways but really are hard to fit. They CP comes out so far that it breaks up your rows. You'd need to stick it next to a super deep cab like a Konami or Sega Fighter.

I like HS1 and HS5 cabs for a nice 2P vs cab...

We do see a bunch of KOAMs in this area cause 3KOAM was just like 10 miles from where I am.
Eh I've got some pretty deep cabs already so this one wouldn't stick out much. :) If I can't find the big blue cab I'd probably settle for a red Z Back. I know this has been debated over and over here, but for a long time, I thought the red Z back cabinet was the dedicated for Champion Edition. Only later did I learn about the big blue cabinets. I had never even heard of 3KOAM until recently. Interesting to know what other companies besides Dynamo were making cabinets.

Edit: I sometimes forget that I've already purchased the large Champion Edition marquee for the big blue cab. :) I figure it would look great displayed on a wall, but it's in really nice shape and I'd love to install it in a big blue. I have a dedicated Slam Masters Q Sound cab that it could go next to. :D I don't know why I'm so fixated on getting that particular cab for Street Fighter. I played Champion Edition on a red z back primarily. Maybe if I found a big blue to try out I might not care for it as much. Last year I saw a MAME cab on CL that was in that big blue cab. I knew it was originally a Champion Edition because you could see the cardboard bezel had been flipped over when looking at pics of the inside. It would have needed pretty much everything and so for $250 I didn't pull the trigger. I sometimes kick myself since nothing local has popped up since.

I have yet to fit a monitor to it, but this is how I got it.

I think the HS1 would be easier to rotate, since the wood piece has two little handles, and is nice and snug in there.

I can tell you first hand that the correct thickness of the mounting board/wood for any Dynamo is very much needed. My Arkanoid II was a quick op job done to a Dynamo (HS1 with the swappable middle plate on the CPO...now that's a kinda cool feature) and they decided to use some rickety ass wood scraps to mount the monitor. It wasn't the correct thickness so the back of the monitor obviously was hitting the back door. They apparently thought the best thing to do was to go ape shit and bash/twist the monitor chassis metal until they could finally get the door closed. It's quite a sight. You'd think they would go search for better wood, but I guess people were beating down their doors dying to put quarters into their Arkanoid II so there was no time to waste... *eye roll*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKkkkkkkk curclunkbadoombadoom derailing!

I am very sure there were multiple versions of CE dedicated. Z-Back was definitely one of the dedicated units for Hyper, might have been for CE as well at one point (it's possible given how mixed up the info is).

I just don't like that you might be lead to feel you are wrong when the reality is...no one can get this game's information absolutely straight. I am very much under the impression the Big Blue version was one of multiple options for a dedicated (I'm also pretty sure there is only one big blue version for dedicated CE, unlike Super, where I've seen two different styles). It was considered common knowledge way back in the 90's that the 19 inch Dynamo was one form of dedicated CE. So...I mean...you're in the ballpark with those two.

As an aside to this aside: There's also nothing wrong with wanting the big blue version or a Z-Back. That's *your* preference. I own all three styles of SF2 cabinet (Z-Back, Big Blue ((Super SF)) and a Dynamo), they all have their pros and cons. All three are the shit for different reasons.

I'm sorry...we were talking about Prairied's latest cabinet? Let me just shove this back on track...EEEEEEEEEEEEKKkkkkkKACHUNKBABOOM

That looks like the cab I saw on eBay last week?Is that the guy from the Stockton area? He was selling that cab and throwing in a Neo Geo cab with the deal? Great Price BTW

Yes it is a kid in Stockton that had it on ebay. He's 18 and has about 5K worth of arcade machines already. Lots of Bemani music games.

It's now here and mine. He ended it early. It has a dead K4900 monitor that I haven't even tried to fire up and check out yet because I prefer K7000 monitors in here also cause it mounts correctly. They bent in a corner of the K4900 monitor frame to make it fit into the cab. Really lame work done in the past on this cab.

So he brought a nice Zcab with a bent up CP over for me to check out. The monitor went out on him and I plugged everything back in and found a dead fuse. I rewired parts of it and worked on it for like 45 mins including throwing it on my rejuv to even out the color guns on his cab he was keeping. I got it working and it looked good after some simple tuning.

Onto my cab that I got in trade, work and cash (DELIVERED) which was nice. I was able to still do my family time, bathe and put down the toddlers and then meet this guy at 9:00PM to work on his Zcab and take delivery of my HS1.

He left and I then dropped in the spare K7000 on the floor of my garage into it. I did some cleaning and put in some new marqee bulbs.

Sorry for the poor cell phone pic.

I'll use one of my other corner cut control panels and turn it into something else actually. It's going to get some paint and new art all around. I don't have a bezel for it however.

My HS-5 was just wood in the inside, I had to trim it to cram a 27" VGA monitor in it, but is looks awesome with the naomi!

The HS5 houses a 25" monitor, and is just a few inches wider than the HS1, which is made for a 19" monitor.

Aside from that, and a drawer inside, they are pretty much the same.

My HS1 and HS5 are even the same depth, height and match side by side, but the HS5 has a "box" built on to the back for the larger monitor neck.

I guess mine has two different monitor mounting brackets as well, but I've seen a few different styles on those.

Thanks Mindl3ss and Prairied1ll0. I just got a Tetris in a Dynamo, but I wasn't sure what model it was. Sounds closer to the HS2 description. It has the pull-out CP with the board attached. The monitor is a 19". I wonder if it can be rotated? I'll have to check it out.

Dr Zero has a website all about Dynamo cabinets:

pm me, might have an extra z-back or something...

I told you to get on KLOV! LOL

OK guys, meet C-Bass. Our experienced collector at the ripe age of 18!
Trust me he knows his arcade games. Especially fighters and music games.

JOW - This Zback is in good condition. It needs work because of how the CP mounts needs fixing but it can be fixed restored. The hard stuff like monitor and sides are in good condition. The sides are almost pristine actually. (No sideart)

Nice! yeah those monitors are for bowling alleys. I had one in a MAME cab before I outgrew MAME. (pre-Hyperspin)

I have the hidden dream to have a complete Dynamo linup

Forgotten Worlds, SF2 HF, Magic Sword, Final Fight, Ghouls Ghosts, Cabal/Blood Brothers, Raiden, Ikari Warriors, Altered Beast, Shinobi

HS5
SFIII3S, AVP, SSF2T

New cab day 2.0

I had bought this on ebay like a month ago but it took weeks for my shipper to swing past LA to pick it up. He then went the other way to Phoenix and I didn't realize that he was going to drop it off today! He should be here around midnight.

I have a HOTD board ready to test in this thing.

Back to the cab that needs work.

These things take water pretty poorly so take care when you work on them. It's raining and I opened the garage door over it after I sanded it. The MDF had to be sanded again as it got rough from being wet.

then I quickly painted it last night to get something on it's bare sides.
