New B&W Aquisition: Midway 280 Zzzap

OK, I cut the blue gel down to size and reinstalled the BLB. I think I finally got it:

Looks like you have the backdrop looking good thru the mirror!

What fixed that?

Edit:
Looks like the horizon is low in the backdrop, the road I think shouldn't go above the mountains. I am guessing those are mountains in the background?

I put a newer, perfectly clean BLB in. I have a feeling the one I had in before was either dim or dirty. The WBL, while brighter, turned the back drop white and it is supposed to be black/ purple/ green. The BLB brings out the correct 'nighttime' colors.

It's mounted exactly where it was originally. The backdrop doesn't go any higher, and the mirror and monitor are at their factory angles as well.

Looks awesome! Did you see my edit about the vertical position of the backdrop? Looks a bit low, that or the monitor is "high". It could be the vertical position though.

Yep, I'd say you're right. I'll need to back the vertical size back down. Hard to know until everything gets lined up properly. It also looks like I will then need to move the blue gel up as well.

I also have this machine.. And it has always been the same: the road goes up a little higher than it should. I have tried to adjust it a bit, but can never get it just right. But... I know very little about monitors and how to work on them, so all I know how to do is turn the adjusting knobs on the chassis.

Anyway... Your cabinet looks amazing! I hope to clean mine up a bit in the future.

Liquid Nails

Hey Phet, I am listening to the podcast, and my recommendation for gluing the t-moulding is to use Liquid Nails.

I used it in my DK restore, it is nice because it doesn't harden instantly like hot glue, and doesn't expand like gorilla glue, and holds way better than wood glue.

I love the stuff is it so workable and dries perfectly.

I forgot which version I buy at the hardware store, I will look when I get home.

good idea, hot glue is tough to work with for sure and burns quite painfully on the fingers.

will give the Liquid Nails a try on my next T molding project

I just got a zzzap (really good shape), so if you need more pics inside I can take some. I wondered what those 2 red stickers were on the monitor when I cleaned off the decades of dust. Mine look more towards black and very faded. Has there been anyone motivated to print off a few?

p.s. does anyone have a part number on those blubs behind the marquee? No manual in mine.

I know it has been a long time, but I just stumbled upon this. Would you be able to get back to the cab and take a high-resolution shot of this again? Or if you still have the original, is is higher resolution than what was posted to this thread?
I don't own the machine anymore. I believe a dude down in Texas does. His username is speedwayarcade or something similar.
