New atari cabaret doghouse- Check it out !!

This is where spoiled collectors come into play. They live in areas where this stuff is just lying around cheap so they grab it up because they can, then they figure "What the hell am I going to do with this?", try to make a quick buck on it, can't, so they part it out and toss the rest in the trash. I see this all the time in the Upper East, Midwest North, and Cali - and anyplace that has regular SuperAuctions like Dallas.

Meanwhile, those of use who live in areas that almost never have games pop up are keeping the bondo companies in business...

What? Minis are growing on trees in Dallas now because of the crappy Super Auctions? :) Seriously though, the games around here are usually beat to shit....

Yes, look at this fine specimen from the last Dallas Super Auction..

Notice how screwed up the cabinet is on the side panels in the front?

Nothing that can't be fixed by someone who cares...

I'm sure the person who bought it just needed a dog house. Not sure why you think the Dallas market is doing so well or what people you are complaining about up this was that do the same things to nice games. The point was that you have to have nice games to start for that to be true. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure someone up here is killing what we do have off, but if anything they are buying at Superauctions, turning them into multicades, and dumping them.

Edit: oh, if you have not been to a recent Dallas auction, most of the games have actually stunk. I seriously mean that they smell of moisture, mold, and other funk. So much so that it gets on your hands from playing them. Not sure if the other members have noticed this, but they have been really "cleaning out the barns" to fill the last couple auctions.

I never said people were stripping nice games (although I'm sure that happens to, considering you currently have about 4 "parts" posts on CL up there now just in the past couple weeks). But I think an easy supply of "dead" games means that people are much pickier about what they consider "nice". You can pick up that mini and hang onto it looking for a nicer cab (or strip and dump), rather than restoring it yourself. Down here, we're lucky to find something half as good for a similar price.

Also, considering you've had 19 posts today that hit on the "arcade" keyword (with lots filtered but a few slipping through) of which 10 had actual arcade games and one was parts, you have tons compared to Houston (7 posts today - 3 actual arcade games, one being a 60-in-1), San Antonio (5 posts today - 2 actual arcade games), or Austin (3 posts today - 0 actual arcade games).

You live in an area with an easy, semi-constant supply. Not all of us do. That's why those of us who don't often complain about guys who do who dump stuff that we consider salvageable.

Personally, I figure that if someone doesn't want to get hassled about it, he wouldn't post pics of it unless it was as trashed as the Space Duel recently picked up....

No denying our CL search (arcade minus crap being filtered) is four pages long. However, in a given day, so many are just reposts. There are a couple businesses that try to dump the same damn inventory games and parts every few days. Can we just agree that the nice Centipede mini cabinet being used as a dog house is sad?

2¢:

We are VAPS members. Video Arcade PRESERVATION Society. You're posting about your dog living in a cabaret cab you parted out, and you say it's funny and a joke. And you try to justify it by saying you offered it up for free but nobody took it, so you're going to smash it. Don't you think that anyone here would've taken it if they were anywhere close? Cabarets are the more rare of the cabs. It just pains people on this forum to see you advertise this and post pics as it if it doesn't matter to anyone. You do what you want with your own property, but don't post pics in a thread advertising the destruction of something many/most of the people on here hold in high regard. And you wonder why people are angry?

Dead horse beaten.

i will take it but i cannot drive to get it.
i am in michigan
but i would pay for shipping if you could just dismantal the sides.
so basicly the 4 sides bottom and top panels
if it cannot be done then no biggie

but i figured cold not hurt to ask and i would hate it to be destroyed.

thanks
frank

Good for you! At least you're willing to do something and try to save the cab and get some use out of it.

Come on man you know how these forums are to post stuff like that. I understand where your coming from but I would have kept it to yourself. Remember the boneyard guy?

I saw that "kittybeater" is selling on here, again...
