I know a lot of people here aren't interested in the Arcade Legend cabinets, I just bought one (arcade legends 2) for a STEAL of a price original owner said she paid over $3K for it, I bought it for under $500) so I could have it mainly for guests and the fact that it has a lot of cool games that I would never buy cabinets for. While I've only had the game for about a day, it's growing on me. I plan on writing up a review in a few weeks..

While looking around, I found this annoucement that a New Arcade Legends 3 will be released this month, and hold on- It's going to be a bigger golden tee style cabinet (wtf?) The interesting part is that there is NO mention of this on the Chicago Gaming site, but there is on the BMI site. Go figure

So hopefully this means more game packs for the AL2? Or will they leave it in the cold like they did the AL1 machine?

I have yet to decide if I'm going to keep my AL2, I guess I'll know in a few weeks if I like it or not... I will say this, some of the games just don't play well with the wrong controls (Asteroids and gravitar with a joystick, Warlords with a roller ball, etc) but I'm trying to get used to it..

The original Arcade Legends was the home version of Ultracade sold
through Chicago Gaming. Many of the game packs were non-licensed
which is why you can't find them (just search for Dave Foley).

I get them in for service from time to time. The older ones with bad hard drives
are the worst because the buyer had paid for the Pac Man & Ms Pac Man
which are not restorable.

It does come with that elusive complete version of golden tee that a lot of people are trying to find

$500 is a good deal, and AL2 is still sold as an expensive emulation cabinet.

Arcade Legends 1 has a sordid past in which many of us owners have a slight (or not so slight) contempt about how it turned out.

As it has been said before, this is not M.A.M.E. It very well could use a derivative or partial programming from it. But the "Joshua OS" system that was written for it is really (in my opinion) the fastest loading, easiest and straight forward interface for emulated games I've seen.

Many distributors of AL1 (from Ultracade Technologies) were told that these games were legally licensed from their original copyright holders, which justified the price and (for some, like me) was a selling point. Licensed and legal? Non-MAME? Tons of games? This was great! My wife generously bought it for me as an all-in-one solution for our rec-room/basement.

However, it came out last year that the Ultracade Technologies former owner was indicted over charges of theft and counterfeiting of games not licensed for the system. So much for licensed and legal. See the link to the article below.

As far as I know, there has been no solid conviction after the indictment. At least I haven't heard of it if it did happen. Supposedly, Arcade Legends 2 fixed all the licensing problems (since it's still sold today) and I'm pretty sure AL3 should be clean as well.

Sorry for the history lesson, but as you said, you were gauging interest and I thought I'd share.

As for the Asteroids in Arcade Legends, you CAN use the buttons to rotate the ship. I think it's the 2nd and 3rd buttons, whereas fire is the first button.

The more I play the AL2 machine, the more I like it.. just for the fact that is has a lot of games that I would never buy a dedicated cab for that I like due to limited space.. and the gameplay and presentation (front end) is VERY nice. On top of that, my wife loves it and the games on it, so it may be a keeper. The price was definitely right!

The only thing I worry about is how it's going to look like crap next to all my classic arcade games :(

My curiosity is peaked on the AL3, hopefully they will offer some new game packs that are compatible with the AL2 machine!

I like my Arcade Legends II. The Vector games look like ass, but many of the others are good!!

Yeah, the vector games are meh. They still play decent and it's at least a good secondary alternative if you don't have the real machine.

Agreed, it's good for a space saver. Berzerk and Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting are still my favorites on there and I don't have a dedicated machine for those.

Good Morning Trickman.

I'm looking to buying an AL2 for a friend of mine, but they are only looking to spend up to $1500. Do you think that is achievable at that price? Do you know where I can look to get one used?

They're looking for a warranty but I told them they can only get that buying new, so I'm hoping these are somewhat reliable.

thanks for your time and help - Tony

I called these guys today to try nd nuy the control panel so I didnt have to hack mine...They were basically rude and kept asking me why? Who the hell cares its a piece of wood? They make me want to go ahead build a template and sell it on ebay LOL

Just want it for mt GT Fore so I can use the cab for my superior ArcadeSD :)

Piece of crap. Again, they advertise 130 games. Go take a gander at the game list:

http://www.bmigaming.com/arcadelegends3-games-list.htm

Golden Tee Fore Complete has 29 courses. These morons are counting each course as a "game".

If you want a BETTER emulated experience without having to pay that stupid price... and have access to not 130 games... but THOUSANDS of games... just build a MAME cabinet.

Cheaper
Better

Allow me to clarify....I have the GT cabs not the prob....They have a pre-drilled control panel with two joys and buttons holes ready to go....would be a quick swap and showed a price of $30 lol

Might want to take a look at the control panel closely. Those panels look much shallower than a stock GT CP...

Also, Cutting holes in wood isn't too difficult... you could cut a panel in all of about 10-15 minutes.

if you want golden tee(besides this or getting the real machine[which would be better since the real thing is always more awesome]) you can just pay about $60 and get the TV games version...
