Well, now that the Outer Limits is closed and all the machines have either been sold or absorbed into the Vortex, I finally had the room and the time to actually arrange the Vortex into a usable format. It's been basically a storage room for the last 2 months. It was tough to go from 22 machines to 15 and lose an entire room, but I did it and I think it worked out pretty well. Now the pins, juke, dartboard and Sea Wolf can still be out in the bar area, while this room is strictly vids. It's actually nice to have all my favorites in one room, as having 2 rooms meant that you usually had to choose which room's games you'd turn on while neglecting the other room and its games. I only have layout pics at the moment, though I did have everything on and working this past Saturday. Anyhoo, the room is currently at 15 machines. I plan on restoring my DK cabaret next and putting it back to back with my DKjr cabaret. This room will then be at capacity. After that, any new machines that come in will have to replace current titles. Pics of the new layout:

Looks wonderful, Phetty! I love the little Asteroids Deluxe corner. Looks cozy.

It is and I too love that little corner. I don't know which is cozier, the AD corner or the Pole Position cockpit in the other corner. Both are great places to sit and think.

It's funny, I have a similar set of corners and there is something fun about being in those corners when the lights are out playing those games. You just feel like you are in a remote world with just you and the game. Corny? Yes.

Yeah, I think I like sitting and looking around my arcade more than I like playing any particular game. I like looking at them all at once, especially when there are people playing them. I love playing too, but when I get done, I always stop and look around for a while. I hope that feeling never goes away.

Looks like a much more compact setup. The bummer about trying to fit as many games into a room as possible is the tradeoff that you have to do with displaying things on the walls and being able to see the sideart. At least that's my dilemma. I actually end up forcing myself to leave space for that stuff and strictly enforcing the "one comes in, one must leave" policy.

But you are lucky to have a place that's separate from the game room to work on them. For me, if one breaks then I have to pull it into the middle of the room to work on it which totally disrupts everything!

Nice collection....the room looks sharp. Does it get warm in that room with all those games on when you mix in half a dozen people?

I ask because I have seen some rather large "home arcades" and it just seems like the heat from the games plus a handful of people would cause a room to get uncomfortable rather quickly during the winter with the heat on for the rest of the house.

It gets pretty hot with NO people in the room. I left all the games on Saturday, came back an hour later and the temp had risen about 10-15 degrees. Better that than the room getting cold when they're on.

Looks good. A lot of goodness in one spot. What are the dimensions of that room?

It sounds like you had three rooms of machines and are now down to two. Not two rooms and down to one. The bar area has six machines so i think it is fair to say that it counts as a room, plus you will probably be putting more pins in there.

Could be worse, I went to a guy's house to pick up a game recently and he had 80 machines filling up every square inch of the place. Total hoarder and hardly any of them actually worked.

Really looks great although I don't know what your old layout looked like. Lots of nice games that look in great shape.

You and I are similar in this.

I love that you have Gorf/SH/Tron together, Pac-Man & Galaxian together, and your Williams cabinets together. Really nice!

Great idea with the molding for the Junior power cord, I am jealous of the PP fortress of solitude. Nice placement of the PS2 too!

You need a speaker grill on the Junior and some instructions too. |SLAP|

Eh, kinda. The main room has 2 couches, 2 TV areas, a large bar, a corner fireplace, a table and chairs, 3 pins, 1 Sea Wolf, one Juke, one Ms Pac cabaret built into the wall, one Megatouch on the bar, one dartboard, a cocktail Millipede that serves as our only high bar table and a DVD enclosure outside of the arcade wall. It's more of a family room/bar than an arcade.

Well, I do also have a currently-under-reno heated garage space that currently houses 10 more games (mostly projects, but some are close to done). I hate the hoarder look, and when I started getting there, I knew it was time for change. Tons of games sitting nuts to butts in a dirty old building/warehouse/garage do not impress me or make me happy. I feel sorry for and disgusted with people who are or get like that. What a waste.

Everything looks great. Very tasteful all around. Is that a Pole Position cockpit?

Also, I cannot stop staring at your DK Jr cabaret. Just awesome. Once I get some more skills, I would love to do a custom Galaxian or Galaga cabaret. My only problem is that I'm almost 6'3"
