Hello everyone! :) I was turned on to this site by the gaming guys over at 'craigslist' and wow this is a totally awesome site. There's a tremendous amount of time that has been invested here and a huge treasure of information....

I live in the Nashville TN area and work for the highly charged X-Sport called WFD World's Fastest Drummer, Extreme Sport Drumming as seen at http://www.WorldsFastestDrummer.com

We are putting the final touches and tweaking programming on the arcade version of WFD which goes out to test on May 1st at Game Galaxy Arcade in Nashville. We are extremely excited about entering the arcade world and this project. The cabinet itself can be seen at http://www.extremesportdrumming.com/recentnews.htm#arcade

Can anyone guess what this old clunker used to be? I bet you CAN! :) It was awesome fun converting this old baby into the WFD arcade version.......

Well although we are new in this wonderful world of arcades, I hope we can last and be a part of this great community you guys have established.

Please by all means give me some honest constructive feedback on the above links. A simple "this SUCKS Dude!" will not suffice......:)

Thanks to all the folks who have put such a fantastic site and forum together.

Where on Klov.com

hey where do you think the announcement and cabinet images would fit best on Klov.som If I understand it right there's a couple of options to upload images etc....Just thought some of you might could offer some direction/suggestions, where it doesn't come off as spamming etc........?

Thanks in advance. I think it might be fun if we could have a guessing game of name this converted arcade cabinet kinda round?

WFD

So do you have plans for mass manufacturing the game for other locations to pick up in the future?

I look forward to seeing more!

In the perfect world :0)

Well in the perfect world and in our dreams the short answer is 'YES' and the long answer is 'we hope so'......:)

WFD has been a 35 year investment, it took 24 years just to build the Drumometer which detects the speed of drummers hands and feet and the X-Sport WFD is now in it's 10th year!

We did our first market test by building 8 very raw/simple machines with just pad and Drumometer for Guinness World Record Attractions. Guinness locations were international including Japan, Canada etc....It has been and still is one of their most successful interactive games. Here is an un-staged video from WFD early testing @ Guinness in Texas see http://www.extremesportdrumming.com/properties/video_game/WFD Arcade Game.wmv

Then MTV's Addicting Games asked us to do an online game version of WFD for their 'Classic Arcade' division and it produced well over 1.5 Million plays in it's first 90 days as seen at http://www.addictinggames.com/worldsfastestdrummerthegame.html

Having said all that above this test is the first coin-op version (pay to play) where the player has to put $1.00 in :)

The Arcade is more elaborate but just to get a slight feel of some the game play you can check the basic WFD Game for your keyboard at http://www.worldsfastestgamer.com/

Thanks for asking any suggestions advice from those who have been down this road before is very much appreciated.

One thing you could also consider for the arcade version is some LED attract lighting. That's all the rage on arcade games these days, see specifically the new H2Overdrive and Guitar Hero Arcade(here's an example video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZvBt8tdLpM&feature=related ). Having lights flash when you hit the drums might be cool (or seizure inducing, I'm not sure :p)

It's a cool idea though, glad to see you guys bringing it to arcades. What inspired that decision?

AtariShag thanks so much

It's not a problem, I make it my mission to cover arcades in every way I can there. :)

Absolutely, that would be great!

If you grab some video of WFD Arcade in action at Game Galaxy or elsewhere, I'd be happy to post that too. :)

For sure!

We heard from the Tennessean newspaper (the biggest in TN) yesterday they wanted to come out to Game Galaxy Arcade and do a 2 min or so video for their website! Which is really cool too!

But for sure we will get you plenty of stuff as we go, it is just so awesome to have you be so kind to this new venture. This thing called 'entertainment' can be a lonely business and after 35 years we never forget who was kind to us along the way..........hehe it's easy not to forget them because they are so FEW!!!!! hehe lol JK :)

Thanks so much!

Yeah, drumming, video games, and DJ Qbert all seem to go together somehow.

Its really cool that you guys are testing the arcade waters in a time where the arcades seem to be getting smaller and smaller.

we'll see, too close to back out now! :)

I agree on DJ Q Bert! Yea doing the WFD Arcade Game is really cool, but some say not smart because it is shrinking, Hey oh well, "NO BRAIN NO PAIN!" Or something like that! :) lol

Honestly it's been a 35 year labor of love and after 35 years who's counting anymore right? The bottom line is if we do enough business @ test to merit building a second machine then it's a success against the rhetoric of the naysayers.......We've heard that stuff from the beginning and it's never fazed us one bit.

Cool? Yes! Smart? Remains to be seen! :)

But thanks to all you guys for being so supportive it really is inspirational!

Awesome idea and we will christen this first little girl the PT0001 in your honor. PT will stand for 'Persistent Truth' and of course 0001 is the first cabinet! Is that ok with you?

Great idea and we had talked about doing something like this early on, but you know how it goes you get so into the big stuff of getting the dang thing to work, you forget about the little cool important things, so thanks for bringing this back to our attention!

Here's to the PT0001! May she makes us all proud!

Hint on cabinet

OH DEADLY!, Great Guess! but NOOOOOOOOOOO! Sorry! :(

Who's Next?

OK, I'll give you a hint the game started with a 'S' and the company that made it started with a 'S'......Does this help?

This particular one was distributed by MidWay back in the day!

Anybody gonna take a stab?

Based on the vertical angle of the front of the cab, and the fact that the red control panel extends out from inside the cab (and is not flush with the vertical sides)... I'll take a stab and say it's a heavily modified Space Invaders cab.

Kyle

Well, I'm always the last to know...

Anywho, I work at GameGalaxy and I'm looking forward to seeing it there.

I might have some ideas for extra "flair" once I see the cabinet. A few strobe lights and such go a long way as far as getting people's attention.

I can't see a lot of the cab in the pic and I believe it's been modified but it looks a bit like an exidy cab. Pepper II, venture.....please tell me that was not a hard hat. And if it was please tell me you kept all the parts and are gonna sell them to me.

Although this doesn't fit with the S and S clue you gave us.
