I recently acquired this title after a few years of searching! I spent the first few days with it partially torn down so I could fix the lock diverter in the back and wax under the ramps. Still working out a few minor gremlins, but she plays like a dream!
I had seen this game a few years ago and played it for four hours straight. I haven't seen one since, so I was excited to get a chance to add one to the collection. This machine is truly creepy. The music and sound effects will give you chills (the bloodcurdling screams in the DOOM Multiball and the maniacal laughter in the Jester Multiball.) The sound is just so clear, it honestly trounces DCS. The colored lighting effects may also be some of the best I've ever seen. And this baby has got FLOW! Loads of loop and ramp shots and the ball hardly ever pauses. Good solid feel to the whole machine. There's even a wizard mode. I can't believe how many people out there have never heard of this game...
It also looks like mine could be an early production. The serial number is 3416, which is by far the lowest number I can find online. A tag stapled to the bottom of the playfield says #17. There's also some slight differences in the artwork on the playfield between mine and the pics I have found online. The word CASTLE by the drops on mine is white, along with the banners at the base of the loops and ramps. On all the others I've seen pics of have purple/pink, along with the name of each shot on the banners. I just wish there was more information available for this game.
