So I have finally finished a little Pac Man cocktail that I picked up about 2 months ago.
All metal parts where powder coated - new cpos, new monitor, wiring harness repaired, board repaired, new base (underneath cabinet) all wooden black corners refinished, and a new glass from phoenix arcade.
Here are a few pics of the process...

Nice! Looks really good... I also have my Ms Pac/Galaga Reunion cocktail in my living room, and it gets alot of use, both as a game and a table, LOL!

I have a new glass on this baby that cost me 200+ so I'm not ever going to set a thing on top of this game. Not a single scratch in the glass ever (or as long as I can possibly prevent it)
I guess when I have people over I will have to put a sign on it "Dont set anything on top EVER!!!!"

Wow - only 2 ppl comment on a complete pac man cocktail restoration?

Well, now my "Sweet Restore" comment seems less genuine. :D Really nice looking game. You should get a clear lexan piece cut in the same shape as the top for parties, so guests can use the top for drinks and stuff. :)

That looks great. Very nice job and attention to the detail. I clicked on the first picture and thought hmmm. It took me a second to realized that was the before picture LOL.

It's tough to drive a fan base on a restore when you drop all the images in one shot. People enjoy being part of the process - they live vicariously through your work. Next time start the thread when you get the game, and update as you go.

That said, it's a fine specimen now. If I were you, I'd lay down a sheet of clear film to protect that table top. That would leave the table playable, yet still protect the glass.

Great job on the restore!

Bingo!

That being said, flynn54321 ended up with a great little machine. Definitely living-room worthy.

Nice job. Looks good as new. I would love to have that in my living room.

Question for everyone. Did all Pac's come with the smaller coin door? Or is this an earlier run cab?

Maybe put the old glass back on for parties?

The whole purpose of a "cocktail" is to be to set a drink on it, it would be like having a urinal in your bathroom with a sign that say's "Don't ever piss in this...EVER!!!"

I actually just picked up another one on Tuesday - this one I will be sure to take pics and post along the way... That makes sense to me

The restore looks awesome, however...

kinda defeats the purpose of a cocktail. When you have people over, just don't give them any glasses or plates that are actually glass, keep some plastic ones handy and you should be fine.

I personally have a Ms Pac with some nice clean glass on it, and I leave 2 Arcade themed coasters on it, in the event I or a guest has a beer bottle that they want to rest on it. Despite me being VERY nervous it would get scratched up when I had that first party, every single adult grabbed / used the coasters without me telling them, and about half the children did too (even though they were drinking soda from a plastic/ disposable cup so it didn't matter).

So that's my advice. Buy a few "in theme" coasters, disposable plates / cups and take a deep breath, it'll be ok. :)

PS: There's a bunch of good ones on CafePress:

EDIT: There's another Category for 'Arcade Games' in addition to the 'Video Games' one above.
