This one kind of fell in my lap. I am 100% out of room, but I just couldn't pass it up!

BYOAC member KenToad was super kind enough to pass this game on to me. One quick trip 2 hours up the road, and it was at my place.

It is a beater cabinet, but will clean up fairly nice. The sides are decent with original grey vinyl in acceptable condition. The overlays are yellowed as usual. The front panel has to be replaced, because it is super swollen. The lower sides have partially detached from the frame, and need to be glued/clamped back tight - there is a 3/4" gap on each side of the CP.

The main issue is power. The existing switcher was in pieces, and wires were disconnected. I will wire it up tommorrow and see where I'm at. The monitor did fire up last time Kentoad plugged it in.

It was full of animal refuse when I opened it up. When I last brought games uncleaned into my gameroom, I got an unpleasant mouse pee smell. No way this game was coming in dirty! I immediately gutted the machine and gave it a sponge bath (partical board - no hose). I Bleache white cleaned the monitor, power brick, and upper plastics. I also gave a liberal coat of poly to the exposed partical board panels inside the cabinet. Overall, it smells much, much better. I was in a hurry, so no official "before" pics. There are some here though of its initial resting place:

Note: I don't know why the pics show the top plastics and the CP as being gray/white. I assume the pics were brightened or something. There no way they could have yellowed in that short of time considering it was faced away from sunlight.

Currently, I am piecing it back together. I broke a speaker when pulling out the monitor because the wires were awkwardly ran through the monitor frame. I fixed it already, so no permanent damage. I'll report back as soon as I fix/verify the power and wiring.

Stupid 5 pic limit...

Anyways, here is is cleaned nicely and in the gameroom free of stank.
Also, a close up of the swollen front panel. Pics don't do justice to how bad it really is. Lastly a pic of a minty fresh, clean monitor. I LOVE cleaning monitors up. They instantly look brand new.

Nice score, although I can't say that I was ever a big fan of the game. I only ever played or even saw it in the wild once, at a Wunderland arcade in Portland.

I remember the one at the Huntington Mall Gold Mine quite distinctly. I did play it alot, but I sucked at it. Time will tell if it is a keeper.

Congratulations! You sure can't beat that price! :)

And yes, I'm not much of a fan either. In fact, I'm not a fan at all of the game -- even though that puts me at odds with 95% of the KLoV community. (Or so it seems.)

I just could never get into it at all. Whether I was playing it on location somewhere or in my arcade -- back when I used to have one.

*shrugs*

nice.. i just got one 3 weeks ago up in cleveland for 300.00 Mine doesn't have any water damage, but still kinda beat too. I have been playing mine daily, i suck at it but it's fun!

Well, I'm glad to see that the monitor frame I recently bought is in fact the correct one for 720. That's a relief!

Now if your PCB's work, I'lll cry. :) Unless of course you decide to part it out.

I need to make a new front panel too, so perhaps we can tag team it and make two at once.

Very nice get my friend. 720 kicks ass. One of the few games I did not play as a kid that I think are must haves for a collection.

you need the actual wood front coin door area?

I've been fixing up the power wiring this morning. Just a quick double check though:

+ sense & - Sense
Do I tie them into the +5 and -5 posts, respectively?

Nevermind, -sense = dc ground. Good thing I decided to investigate before assuming!

i should be able to help with that as soon as i get caught up!

Sounds like a plan! I might have enough black vinyl to cover them both.
Is yours decent enough to trace? I don't trust the dimensions on mine.

Yes, mine is dimensionally correct. I just busted a bunch of big chips out of the backside of it when I removed it.

I know I have enough spare formica for one front. I might have enough for two, but I'm not sure offhand. I was planning to use some nicer 3/4" ply.

Today I cleaned up the switcher wiring harness, and connected it up. I reinstalled the power brick and switcher. Got the fan cleaned up and installed, but I forgot which way it was supposed to go. Is it supposed to suck in air, or blow it out?

I pulled those pins in the burned connector and cleaned them up. I would have just replaced them, but I don't have my molex crimper right now. I need to get that tool back!
I have a bit more wiring inspection to do, and a few more parts to reinstall. Then I'll drop back in the monitor and fire her up.

P.S. My gameroom has no odor, so operation cleanup was a resounding success!

Like i said, my cab is hammered. Broken corners, beat edges, i'm just going to cut a whole new cab for mine. I hate doing body work on a machine, just rather cut a new one. Not sure on shipping. Might not be that bad, it's only a single piece. I have some really nice birch here too.

If you think you could do two of these reasonably soon and ship them together to me or Shardian, this would probably save us some trouble. I would be game for that. Shouldn't cost much to ship the two if they are just wrapped in cardboard, no packing should be needed. It's just a rectangle with a coin door hole cut out. I can provide dims if necessary.

Shardian, would you be interested in this or do you think you'll need something very quickly?

The nice sanded ply at HD is $15-20 for a 2x4' piece.

On the other hand, Shardian and I could probably cut the two in an hour or two. Not a real challenging piece to make. Probably not worth having you (DPtwiz) do it and then ship it considering we could do it ourselves pretty easily.

yeah, it's not a tough part, plunge router will make short work of the coin door opening. Reasonable for me is about a month at this point, i am still backed up, and still taking on jobs that i can't start till november lol
