NEVERMIND, multimeter battery was low and causing bad readings.

My first arcade cabinet purchase a couple of weeks ago is a Neo Geo 1 slot. I've been looking into making it JAMMA compliant, so I was checking into wiring up -5V.

The PSU in mine shows -5V is the white wire, so I start checking it with a multimeter. The reading is above -7V. I found that odd, so I tested 5V and 12V as well. I got more than 7V and 17V respectively. The Neo Geo MV-1 board in it seemed to be working fine, so I thought maybe the PSU wouldn't give me a correct reading unless it had a load on it. Hooked it back up, turned everything on, measured 12V at the JAMMA connector, still 17V+. This is with the adjustment knob all the way down. I could turn it up, see the voltage reading go up, and the PSU fan speed up (only did that when nothing was hooked up).

Now to be honest I haven't ran this probably more than 15min at a time since I got it because I've just been working on the cab and testing.

The PSU in it is a Mazzco LT-200W. Is this normal for an arcade PSU, or have I just been very lucky and the MV-1 is very tolerant? My experience is with PC PSUs, and I know when measuring them even with no load I get something pretty close to the rated voltage, like 4.97V for 5V, 12.03V for 12V, etc.

I'd like some advice from the community before I try to use this for a long play session or buy other arcade PCBs to use in the cab.

That has happened to the best of technicians. Once they played a prank on me and switched the power supply of my computer to 220v. Took me some time to figure that one out. It took him longer to figure out that I had his outlet wired for 220 and switched his power switch to 220.
