I usually have great luck with off-the-shelf colors for many of my restorations.

Because

a: I am not OCD &

2. Because I like the ease of just grabbing a cheaper, pre-mixed color.

Now I have been slowly restoring my Joust (Factory Robotron Repaint) for about 2 or so years, doing little things here and there to get it closer to finished. I went and picked up an oil-based Rustoleum 'Chestnut' Brown paint, based solely on the fact that it WAS off the shelf (cheaper) and that the color on the label was a very close match to the original Joust Brown. I mixed my first coat with 1/2 primer, so I expected it to be lighter. But then I used full-on Chestnut cut with 10% Penetrol for the second coat. Man it's still waaaaaay too light, almost looks sienna, even though the color bar on the label is 10x darker. Oh well, time to find a pint of a dark chocolate brown oil-based paint for the final coat. This time I'll have to open the lid before purchasing it.

Curious...are you converting back to Joust or making it a Joust multi-williams?

Why not just the paint right out of the can without cutting it with anything? I have found that after paint for over 20 years of my life primers are just a wast of time unless the surface is severally stained or your using a light paint on a dark surface.

Both. It will be a restored Joust cabinet running a jrok board. I still have the original control panel, but this was otherwise gutted of boards, coinbox, harness and controls. The original transformer block and light fixture are still there though, as is the sliding monitor shelf and power switch. I found an original Joust marquee and grabbed one of the Phoenix MW Bezels.

Ah, okay. I wanted to see if you were still going to use that Joust multi cpo you picked up from BaconSM awhile back. I've been meaning to ping him about one.

Valspar Chocolate Chip. They sell it at Lowes, but you need to buy a gallon to get oil based. Home Depot can match it in quarts, but it won't be premixed.

Well sir, I went into Sherwin Williams and as expected, they had no idea what Valspar 'Chocolate Chip' was. Tried to look it up, nothing. I ended up grabbing a quart of their darkest, closest brown, "Turkish Coffee" in a satin oil-based All-Surface Enamel. Now why did I try an off the shelf color first? Cuz that was $6.50, as opposed to this SW quart, which cost me $19. Looks like I'll have over a half a quart of Turkish Coffee left after this resto. I'll have to throw next to the half quart of Infinity Pool Blue that I have left over from my Moon Patrol restore.

Weren't you supposed to go to Lowe's for the Chocolate Chip paint?

You must have the most retarded SW paint store ever. When I was looking around to try to avoid Lowes (just because of their stupid "gallon or nothing" oil based policy), I tried a local SW store, they punched it up in the computer and I would have had it in a couple of minutes, if it wasn't $16. I ended up going with Home Despot just because they had the 2nd cheapest price ($11 IIRC) and they had the base in stock (Walmart was cheaper ($9.95), but they didn't have a quart of the base required).

How close a match was the Turkish Coffee? I'm looking for something relatively cheap and "close enough" for my Multi-Williams.
