and am wondering why this is? In my whole time of being a member here I have only ever seen one pinball machine for sale here. Are members just listing them elsewhere? I was looking for a couple pins for filler but refuse to pay astronomical Ebay and Craigslist prices so I have been searching here. No dice

I see pins for sale there, not many one or two a month, but they show up.

However, I don't think I have ever seen a pin for sale here without a corresponding for sale thread on RGP.

...

Ive personally listed several pins for sale here and have seen several pins for sale. Maybe you just missed them or werent looking at the time ;)

What are you looking for?

Something simple from the late 70's or early to late 80's. Something that would be easy for me to learn off of or repair as it would be my first pin. I am trying to stay away from the newer machines with matrix displays and all those electronic bells and whistles. I'll get in to those later down the road as my skill progresses. Thinking about opening my collection to trades also but being as pins cost as much as they do i may lose close to half my games for a trade towards one pin LoL.

RGP is to pinball as KLOV forums is to arcade games. Ask on RGP.

A Bally/Stern game is probably a good choice for you.

Can someone recommend a good newsgroup reader? The one I have is Newsbin Pro and it's great for downloading files but sucks for reading newsgroups.

It's because nobody sells a pinball machine until it breaks.

My main issue is what game to choose. I have only played a handful of pins in my lifetime being that I was always more into videos. I always felt cheated when playing pins because every time I played a game most of the time the ball woul fall directly down the center. After so many times of that happening while playing them I just gave up and stuck to vids. The games that I have played are sort of recent and I enjoyed them but they are out of my price range,Twister,Fishtales,Funhouse,Whirlwind,RFM,Family guy,Southpark. The older games I can barely remember but I did enjoy Pinbot,High speed,Checkpoint,AFM. There are a few others but I would'nt remember unless I saw them in person.

The down side of RGP is you're dealing with pinheads. What I mean is these people live and breathe pinball and your chances of picking up a "good deal" is VERY slim. The group is pretty realistic on price and that means you'll end up paying fair market value most of the time. If you want a deal stick to CL but if you want a pin at fair market value then RGP is a good place. Mrpinball.com (ehhh sometimes) and a newer site pynball.com.

Agreed. And yeah, for if no other reason than that repair guide is so thorough.

A late 70s/early 80s Bally/Stern that isn't one of the ones that brings $ like KISS, EBD, Playboy, Fathom, Xenon, Centaur - that leaves a lot of good games with awesome artwork.

I have to admit that early 80's Bally has become one of my favorite genres...

...I play my Xenon more than even my Whirlwind... and I can't wait to get Fireball II up and running fully...
