Never gets old... the feeling like you just got screwed...

Was emailing a guy about a Freddy: Nightmare on Elm St. pin for a few weeks now. He's been dragging his feet by taking days to reply and taking almost 2 weeks to email pictures(which he finally had his wife do btw). :)

The person that lead me to this guy was saying he was a good guy and that he could probably bring the Freddy to Allentown if I couldn't get down that way beforehand so I wasn't thinking there wasn't a huge hurry(as it also seemed to be indicated by the slow email).

No big deal, I've dealt with people like this before.

Five nights ago his wife emails me the pictures and he follows up with an email to make sure I got the pictures and to say he also has a Lethal Weapon 3 in non-working condition that I could have for an extra $250. I replied saying I sure did get the pictures and that the wife and kiddos loved the theme. I asked if the LW3 was complete and if it had any major damage(not too bad a question I thought). I also asked where exactly he was because Google maps made it look like 1:45 and someone who came up for my Xenon said it was more like 3hrs(which didn't seem right to me so I asked... no harm done I thought).

So no reply that day...

Next evening I write again saying I couldn't stop thinking about fixing up that LW3 and again asked where he was...

No reply that day either...

Next evening I write from my Gmail account, just in case there was a problem from my other account, saying I could send a PayPal deposit and that I'd love to know where he was so I could map out a Google Map route.

No reply that day again...

This morning I receive an email saying LW3 is gone and Freddy(or Freedy like he liked to call it) was going tonight to someone who wanted it sight-unseen... unless he didn't offer enough then he'd get back to me.

All I wrote was... "Heh... what a complete disappointment..."

I wanted to be a dick... I wanted to fire off one of "those" emails... I wanted to beat his head into the ground to be honest. :) But all I ended up sending was the above.

I've already made up my mind that I won't buy the Freddy, I mean Freedy from him if he gets back to me. Too long of a transaction with someone who obviously isn't my type of person to deal with.

I do blame myself for being a bit complacent... normally I'm the type who says "I have cash and a truck and can be there in 3 hours..." but I got lulled into it being a friend-type transaction. :( (Stupid, stupid, STUPID!!!)

So there you have it... my "poor-me" post of the day. :D Just rememberer... and never forget it... you snooze, you lose!!!

Anyone that hesitates to send pics i dont trust. It takes 10 minutes to find the camera / snap the photo, 10 to post it up TOPS.

If he is delaying that he is hiding something. Screw anyone that says otherwise. I am sure if he had a HUO machine the pics would be flying since his Conscience would allow it and he would be jockeying for top dollar.

Tells me right there since he sold to someone unseen - Much better for you - he was hiding something. Good for you. Lord knows what you are getting yourself into.

That machine is common you will get another.

I stopped reading after you said this... " I replied saying I sure did get the pictures and that the wife and kiddos loved the theme. ".

My wife and kids are terrified of that pizza faced psycho serial killer pinball machine. Are you sure they said they liked it? The sounds on that game are pretty gnarly too. :)

Don't give up on the Freeedy. If you like the theme, the game isn't horrible. The red DMD is a nice touch, the boiler shot is kind of fun, but the audio is GREAT. "I'll break your fingers next time," Freddy is such a punk bitch in the game, it's hilarious.

Krugerands are interesting. Earning "money" and then buying items is a feature people don't usually get to before they make their mind up about the game. The dedicated light bar with the Street Fighter 2 type power bar is a fairly unique way of determining how close you are to beating Freddy. Six modes (that granted aren't much different) but it does have a decent wizard mode and the claw save....

I grew up on Nightmare On Elm Street, if you like the theme, the game is very playable. I just hate working on it, raising the play field sucks.

I don't see how you got screwed. You had no investment in this other than some time pestering for pictures. I've had pins sold before I could pick them up several times, and sometimes I was disappointed but I never felt entitled to them. Regardless, I agree with Mattosborn in that he did you a favor as those games are awful. D-list pins are everywhere and not worth traveling for, especially with these gas prices.

Thanks guys. I guess this was one of those transactions that you think is a done deal and you are just ironing out details(like I said, I moved it to the "friend transaction" side of my brain for some reason...). Looks like I'll have a little bit of cash to bring to Allentown now. :)

Mmmmmm... beer and Top Speed!!! :beerchug::drive:

Next time ask for a phone # so you don't have to wait days for email and just call. If they don't wanna provide you with one then I'd see that as a big red flag and just walk away.

So they guy emails me yesterday as we were leaving for Allentown...

Hi
Jeff
the guy did not take freedy much to my surprise when we brought it out side
one side of the cabinet was not 100% on one side, it feels a little rough
when you run your hand over it but the art work is about 80% where the other
side is perfect, he was going to $1,000 on Monday and can get new art work
for $ 100 for that side because he could not fit 2 games with him so if you
want it let me know ASAP I will hold it till then
So not only does he think it truly is spelled "freedy"... but it turns out it isn't as mint as he thought(even though it is a game he has supposedly had in his collection?). Oh yeah, and then supposedly he'll sell it out from a guy he just dealt with on another game if I get there first?

Yep... sounds like a winner.

Confusing part is the friend of his that suggested him to me did not seem anything like this guy... maybe he never dealt with him or something... I dunno but I'm glad it didn't work out for this game.

I did email him back that I'd take it for $800. :D (no, he didn't respond...)
