FS Game: Never delete this thread.

(TG16 Bonk can be in your queue)

But very interesting. I'm not OG enough to have known that was Sega, Never my game but played it a few times and I'm sure rage quit.
Looking at the cabinet though, front mount buttons, flight stick, space theme. Monitor going to 45 opens space in the cab area for possibilities. Very cool

Wyo—love the designs I've seen. I absolutely appreciate the hundreds of hours building it, correcting it, and building it again. That's after hundreds of more hours letting it cook by giving thought to how to begin to execute the design. It looks flawless in every way I can see.

For my part I hope you do keep your posts and your pics up forever. I feel like I spend to much time in this hobby even checking here every few days and don't know how I would have even seen them otherwise.

How you monetize your talent and invest your time is entirely your decision. These are a absolutely gorgeous. But, speaking for myself, to splurge or "invest" in a game at 8k I'd have to (1) love the game just as much as I do admire and appreciate the aesthetics by which you executed the cab and the art AND (2) simultaneously have some sense that I wanted to or needed to I could recoup most or all of my investment later. I might decide I was getting bored with the game or even with the entire hobby in a few years and wish to move them along. For that reason I don't think a piece like what you're creating and selling is going to be acted on impulsively in hours or days. I'm inferring from your comments that this site just doesn't draw your buyer. But I don't think it's just the price or that the audience isn't interested in what you're producing — you see those numbers and significantly more paid all the time for pinball. For someone like me the reservation is how much will I subjectively pay for an entirely one of a kind creation that's taking up significant space that no one else may appreciate if I ever needed to pass it along. I might indulge when that number is 3-5k — because at that point I don't have so much skin in the game I have to worry about losing my ass. But personally I'm taking pretty deep breaths when that number is nearly 10k and may be appreciated by an audience of one. That's when my gut tells me to put my wallet away.

Personally, I'd love to see what what you can imagine and do in the 3-5k price range. I know that if you're doing this only as artistic self expression and it takes 60 hours to get the bezel perfect, it only makes sense to spend 60 hours. But in purchasing it, the project at 20 hours might have been perfectly fine to the buyer even though you didn't like the thickness of a particular bold line and needed to start over. By way of example, I would have gladly pulled out my wallet for a particular US v Them cabinet that I was completely infatuated with and couldn't find anywhere. My point is simply that I believe there's some happy medium between these elegant pieces you're obviously capable of producing and other guys who are selling an assembly line production of CNC machined replicas with no artistic thought of the aesthetics beyond whether the joints are well matched and the dimensions are true to the original.

I didn't mean to be so long in expressing my point but simply to say thanks for sharing and please keep posting so that someone like me gets to see and appreciate the incredible work you're doing.

Wyo,

Here is a wild suggestion: Rather that post it in the FS thread, post the product in the Refurb thread, and note it's for sale elsewhere.

That way, we get to appreciate the design details, and eliminate the sales disappointment here.

The fact of the matter appears to be that we're a bunch of grumpy middle to old people here, and as much as I like games, that one isn't my cup of tea. Neither is Bubbles, or Insector, or a bunch of others. And that's okay. We're all different.

That is what makes us great as a forum. Nobody knows everything (although there are some who are close). We all work together and technically, play together for the greater good.

Who knows? By posting your creations in Refurbs, you may get a work commission. I for one never knew about you. Now if one (I think I have one) of my movie producer acquaintances (def not "friend" level) should ask, I can say "Hey, yah, I know this guy who can do that - how much money you got on ya?" and send him your way.

Up until now, I didn't know of your work. Now I do. And I have a really good memory. So if the question comes in, I know now where to point because of this thread.

Unintended benefit? We'll have to see.

Guys, I Appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

I get that paying for what I make is a hard pill to swallow for some. I get it, they are expensive. There's a reason though....one, the materials it costs to make them look the way they do are expensive....and two, I charge an hourly wage for my labor....just like everyone else who goes to a job.

Please understand that my cabs do sell....usually very quickly when I use other internet avenues...which is why I bailed on KLOV again....to relist elsewhere. So the issue is not so much the price....it's the connection, or lack of...as 72gt suggests.

And as far as an investment goes....which I know is very important to this community....I just sold a Zelda Cabinet for 3x the price I sold the first one I did. It sold in less than a day. I'm humbled and proud at the same time that people want to collect my signature and support what I'm trying to do here. That said, I'm more interested in targeting collectors than investors....so far I've been pretty lucky.

I don't sell my designs regularly (by choice)....only when I need to...to get capital for my new work. I did sell three cabinets to a collector who wanted everything I had at the time.

HOWEVER, that said I agree that it would be nice if I could get my costs down so that I can offer these cabinets to people in the community who really do want one. The thing about that is....it won't look anything like what you're seeing or have been seeing....which most people won't like. Sure it'll still look good, because I do my best to make everything I put my hands to look good....but they wouldn't have the same detail or finish at all. I'll have to chew on that.

Anyways I appreciate the feedback and suggestions. If I can figure out a way to make what I make cheap, while not making it look cheap....I'll let y'all know.

Thanks again!!!! 👍🏼

Nah, don't go the cheap route.

You have the right stuff.

It just needs to be in the right "store" where the people who want that stuff can see it and grab it.

Consider this: Vincent van Gogh never sold a piece of his art while he was alive.

Not a single one.

Yet he is a revered and cherished artist, some 130 years after his death.

You're already ahead of him. You've sold stuff.

So stay the course. If anything, figure out how you can make more and sell more, do a run of 5 or 10, limited edition. Put a freaking gold plaque on them, signed, limited edition - whatever it takes to bump someone's starter and get them to buy.

If either of my kids had settled down and I had grandkids who were into it, I'd be into this. So far, nothing. Nada. Zippo. I have more mentees having kids than my kids are.

Anyway, stay the course, keep your prices where you need them. Market it where it sells, post pictures here so we can marvel and appreciate.

Andrewb begs your pardon...? :D
Bwahahaha.

He may know everything about games.

But like all of us, he doesn't know everything.

Each of us has our deep areas.

Some of us have many.

Some have a few.

Some are incredibly deep.

Some are deep enough.

I don't want to keep bumping this thread, or it literally will never die. But I guess I am again. Maybe I will do as Orlandu suggested and create a single thread for my work....a kinda start over thing if you will.

Anyways, The DT I originally posted on this train wreck of a thread is no longer available. That said, I am currently making another which will be finished in about 3-4 months...and it is not spoken for. PM if interested.

Later fellas. Much Appreciated.

Just stumbled across this thread. Wow, Wyo! That's some pretty incredible work!

Let us admire it, LOL. It's like arcade porn (in a good way).

Hate to bump this thread but i have my reasons. Most klov members painfully know that i am attempting to repair the arcade machines at banning ca. In the beginning i didn't have much say in what went inside banning.
======================================
I created the 1st new row of arcade machines that is another 100 games people can play (Mind you I wanted to do that at an earlier show but I was over ruled ( I don't listen to that person anymore LOL)) . The owner paid to get the other pod of games installed. Since I have been pushing to get the arcade side better things have improved. Because of what we have done there, we who repair on the arcade side have a little bit of an influence on what goes inside.
=====================================-
My point is that even tho you don't think anyone from Klov buys what your selling we do talk to others who do. We grab your pictures from the klov forum and say to other collectors. Hey look at this cool machine. Do you think we have the money in the budget for this or that. Sometime the answer is yes and the sale goes through.
======================================
By deleting this thread you do prevent some one like me from sending pictures to those who might be interested. I know it is your right to do so but honestly I wish you didn't.
=======================================
Banning's arcade side is expanding. There an extra 4k of space call gasoline alley and maybe if we are lucky there going to be another expansion soon. Even with 400 broken machines there is going to be a need for more. The museum of pinball has one of your creations, How neat would it be if it had two.

p.s. We made a PCB to handle joystick and button interface so it can be enjoyed by those who love playing your creation.

Alpha Tron,

That is amazing news. Thanks for the update. I'm absolutely honored to have #001 at your Museum (even if it was kinda unfinished, haha). I'm so humbled it even ended up there. Glad everything is working out okay, and people are enjoying it. You know you can contact me if you ever need replacement art or whatever.

Also, I appreciate the advice. Maybe my knee jerk reaction to thwart the negatives I've been dealing with over the past couple years may have shot myself in the foot than anything else.

Not going to lie though, I've enjoyed the break a lot. It got pretty hot, very fast last year. So it's been cool to just focus on the good stuff and the new designs.

Anyways, I'm mulling things over right now because of this thread, and the opinions (of whom I consider friends) on this forum. I appreciate all the positive PMs I've been getting too.

I just love this stuff. Hope to be able to continue. 👍🏼

Take a break and do what it take to keep your passions high for the things you do.

My natural tendency is to ignore crappy people and whatever they say it is just noise to me. As I posted on many times. Do not let others steal your happiness, It is worth fighting for. Why in the hell would you ever let crappy people have any kind of influence of what kind of day your having or going to have.

Keep Happy and Healthy.

This is the best advice I've ever heard on KLOV. :)

Can you PM me please? I can't find our Facebook conversation thread. Thanks!

I'm confused.

You send me back to back PMs and posts here emphatically asking me to call you, I call you....voicemail.

You PM me say you missed my call because you were taking out the trash...to call you again.

I immediately call you again, you say you can't talk because now you're watching a movie.

What kind of a game are we playing here? It's definitely not gorf! 🤷🏻‍♂️

You've been blocked from PMs bro, not sure what your deal is but please stop wasting my time.

This just got weird like Aunt Jane yelling at Uncle Bobby across the Thanksgiving table. (Mom was bringing out more sides and turned right around and walked back into the kitchen. I'm the kid with my head down now pretending like I'm focused on these mashed potatoes but you know I'm peeking out the corner of my eye fist around that spoon ready if the food fight starts).

Wow. I'm sorry I was busy when you called. That was Tuesday night.
I got caught up in work yesterday afternoon and couldn't call you.
Then I was going to call you back today finally, but then read this.
So yes, cross me of your list of interested buyers now.
