You can usually find a decent cabinet at the Indianapolis auction for $100-$200 in working condition, less if you don't care about the boards working. 4-player cabinets have been at a premium lately, especially with a 25" monitor. I haven't seen one go for less than $300 in the last year.

As from the title you already know my sad truth, I've never been to a coin-op auction. I have some boards on order and don't want to remove my newly re-done Mortal Kombat II from it's cabinet. I was wondering what to expect to see on cabinet prices. Basiclly I'm looking for a 80's jamma cabinet. My previous cabinet I bought when I was thirteen at the local arcade for $150, it was working with Ninja Gaiden. I guess I don't need a working cabinet, but I do want the components inside to work. I've heard about "jamma test boards" I was thinking about possibly getting one so I don't get screwed and buy a cabinet with a busted monitor or power supply. Also if anyone has any recent prices they got on 4 player cabinets I'd love to hear those too. Thanks

Actually, it's not the fact that it's a 2 or 4-player, but that the monitor is 25" or larger that makes it more sought-after.

I really wanted a 25" for my next one too but I'm going to need a medium res I guess I'll go with a 19". Do they sell monitors alone at these auctions, and pcbs alone?

But it's totally possible to mod out a 2 player cabinet, by building a 4 player control panel. This is what I plan on doing, I don't know how it will all come together yet but I don't think it will be too hard.

Yea, there's usually some loose monitors and PCBs, but you can't tell if they work that way. I've seen some monitors new in the box, but you always take a chance. Indianapolis is usually a good one to buy stuff at.

BITD I went to the Starburst Auctions in Toronto. Fun times. I miss those days. Even though I didn't have a lot of $$$ to buy the best that was there.

No cure for stupid. LOL
KLOV never disappoints.

The Necro bumps have been happening more often. I believe it's because of the related threads block at the bottom of each page. That block is clearly intended for people to see similar threads and keep engagement on the forums up. The problem is those are sorted by relevancy and not sorted by date which more than often than not will show you an old, "established" thread first.

I'm not going to lie, I've been guilty of it too.

But, did you use the search function?

Excellent question. I've set a reminder to answer this in 23 years 😁

Seriously, though...whether the original post was 1 day old or 23 years old in this particular case is meaningless. I was recently thinking about how I've never been to an in-person auction and felt like talking about that.

It isn't like I'm asking about something posted for sale.
