There are a few games that I thought improved when they were brought to the NES.

#1 Ninja Gaiden

#2 Contra (maybe it is just the vertical monitor in the arcade that bothers me)

#3 Haunted Castle / Castlevania

Call me crazy but I love Kung Fu on the NES more than Kung Fu Master. I own Kung Fu Master too! :-D

Double Dragon was really different for the NES. It brought in the RPG element with the hearts and leveling up. I like both versions though.

I liked that too, I always to the invisible guy bat trick on level 2.

I have never played the NES version, I will have to give it a try!

Bionic Commando. Still one of my favorite games for the NES.

Yes the NES version is better, but that reminds me of how badly Capcom butchered Strider:

Some of those, like Ninja Gaiden, were pretty much entirely new games. It's kind of hard to compare them. The Arcade versions are often geared toward quick play and the home versions are much more drawn out. It's pretty cool how fast we saw games go from being these really short excursions to games that take hours to beat. Too bad the graphics from the home versions weren't up to par.

I should add that the Haunted Castle video made me want to strangle the life out of that commentator.

What is wrong with you?

Back when I got NES, games were $80 a piece. So I got only a few games a year. So I got games like Zelda, Mega Man, SMB 2/3, Castlevania, Metroid, etc. Games like Kung Fu seemed out of date in comparison. I never even saw it in the video store for rent.

I played Kung Fu Master in the arcade.

Loose carts are now $ .50 to $10.00 a piece, and have been for 10-15 years. No more excuses.

Not to piggy back, but man!!! I thought Kung Fu was a pretty standard go to NES title :-D

<3 Tighe, lol

Kung-Fu Master was one of the best arcade translations ever released on the......Atari 2600. (Seriously.)

And Karate Champ on the NES was one of the worst. Still pisses me off!
