Hey all I had some questions about the NES guns:

1) can they be fixed?
2) are the hard to fix?

I have been looking for a while to get one for my NES and yet always find broke ones, so was just thinking maybe I can fix one of them...Thanks

A big city like yours should have plenty of retro/ used game stores with older NES stuff in there. I've got 2 or 3 Game Crazy stores here in the Salem area alone. They have zappers going for $5-$10. Buy it with a 48 hour window to return if it's defective. Isn't it just easier to buy a new one when they break?

What kind of TVs are you using? They do not work on LCD TVs you have to have a CRT TV.

That can't possibly be true since Game Crazy / Hollywood Video / Movie Gallery closed up all their retail outlets earlier this year.

Anyways, Zapper guns are incredibly common, considering there was just about 1 sold for every 1 NES sold, meaning that there's about 31 million Zappers out there. I'm sure you COULD fix one, but considering you can get them for < $5, so why bother?

It's true... they have a smaller chain down there known as Game Crazy. I visit them all the time when I go to family.

When I asked my boss (I worked at Game Crazy until the end) he said they were the original stores... not corporate owned. They are locally owned.

WTF? Uh... yeah, I don't know the ins and outs of the split up of the big Hollywood franchise, but yes, there are Game Crazy stores still in existence. I'm not making that up.

Just in Salem, OR there are atleast two. The one in Keizer closed up. There are two separate owners for the other two. The south salem store is insanely expensive. Games and accessories are ATLEAST double what they are in the north Salem store. Typically, the zappers are $5 at the north salem store.

Thank so much, I guess I'll look a bit harder. I have looked at the usual thrift, antique, gaming places I can even on CL and other internet pages near me. I'll check out the vid as well thanks again.
